Title: Day Two: WAL/SWI, DEN/FIN, RUS/BEL
Post by: Nemo on Saturday, June 12, 2021, 12:58:23
God I wish our anthem was half as good as Land of my Fathers is.

Don't worry we have an anthem where the fans start to clap before it's finished followed by chants of Engerland😀

Wales seem like two teams poorly joined together with a fairly skillful midfield and then a target man with a quick guy in Dan James playing off him. Not sure the two bits work together well.

Mepham quite lucky not to give away a pen too.

Shit defending. Roberts never even looked at the ball, was just playing the man. Embolo hardly left the ground.

Against the run of play that, Switzerland have been dominant second half. Nice routine mind.

Let’s see what Wales are made of now they have equalised.

Just turned it on to see the Swiss second goal and VAR save Wales.

Wales riding their luck like a Texan rodeo but would be an excellent point to get.

Typical Savage Wales need somebody in midfield to foul the Swiss players😀

Danny Ward looked decent in goal.
Probably too good to just be sitting on Leicesters bench

They paid plenty for him a few years ago as well, odd one. Wonder if they thought Kasper was leaving?

Saw the second half.  Entertaining stuff.  Beautiful equaliser but overall Wales will be pleased with the point.  Beat Turkey and they'll have momentum.

I missed the crucial part of the proceedings though.  Quinny and Nemo strangely silent.

Did they take the knee?

The Premier League goal keeper equivalent of signing Hope because Doyle left but then getting Doyle back...

Interesting point you raise. These tournaments are like a shop window for players who are on the fringes of being classed as first team regulars or play outside their national countries top domestics league.

Yep. Cut the live feed, would be unfair to go back to the studio. Put the highlights of the Wales game on with a message.

Just went down as if punch drunk - looks like he was fitting on the floor - next thing he was being chest pumped and shocked..  not good.

Can only hope he is strong enough to pull through like Fabrice did

See his legs move due to chest compressions is harrowing. Scary.

I hope he’s ok. Reminds me of Fabrice Muamba.

I've done CPR training (thankfully never had to in reality) and it's fucking grim. Better than the alternative though. Understand the desire for hope but think that it's best to wait for official news. Fingers firmly crossed.

Switched over to the cricket quite early on and I must say there's something very comforting about an England batting collapse in the circumstances.

So, has the game been called off. The term being used currently in the media is ‘suspended’ does that mean it’s likely to restart today?

Further information in ten minutes but can't imagine there's any chance of a restart tonight.

Danish FA say he is awake in hospital

Fuck me, that was tough to watch. The shots of his wife were harrowing. The people in charge of direction should be ashamed - there is no way any of that needed to be shown

The danish Fa tweet also referred to the game being temporarily postponed, which sounds optimistic

Just a thing on CPR - defibrillators (automated versions of the CPR process) are fucking miraculous and if you have a spare five minutes, familiarising yourself with how they work and where they are is well worth doing. Manual CPR is difficult and has a low success rate. Defibs have a very high success rate and guide anyone in their use. There should be a lot more of them around

...and from what I’ve read on the internet (not a wholly reliable source) the way they are depicted in television & films is wholly inaccurate

Well, they largely leave out the fact that the defibrillator itself guides you through the process. The user certainly doesn't choose if and when a shock will happen, and it's more or less impossible to do it wrong. You apply patches and then the machine judges what, if anything, is needed.

Following the request made by players of both teams, UEFA has agreed to restart the match between Denmark and Finland tonight at 20:30 CET (TBC).

The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half.
