Title: Strangers Shield for Prospect Hospice
Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, 11:15:29
Hello all,

I've arranged a charity game between podcasters, Town staff and ex-players. This year it's in aid of Prospect Hospice as selected by Alan McLoughlin and family.

This is the first of what is hoped to be an annual event with fans attending from next year (hopefully!)

You don't need me to tell you how much Alan Mac has given to Swindon Town as a player and coach.

Any donations would be tremendously welcome.

Cheers,
Rich

This looks great, I'll donate the money I've not spent on iFollow recently quite happily.

How can we follow the game itself? And is there any way we can incentivise Matt Heywood to put in a big reducer on Dave?

Well done Rich a truly great cause, top man.

Huge thanks to Rich as well as Danny Lee and Steve Hooper at the club who have been super supportive in getting this game up and running. Credit to all the ex Town players too, some of whom are travelling decent distances, to get back out at The CG again...

Must be no small effort from the guys at the club considering both COVID and the general situation between club leadership and fans right now. Well done them, hope it raises plenty.

Good stuff, could you not get Power to turn out and play?

I see Wellens is involved, I assume this is dependent on him not getting a better offer between now and kick off  ;)

He’s not got any knees has he? I’ll take my chances

Wes Brown pulled out swiftly after the Tweet (unrelated)

It's funny as we were holding off for ages.

Never mind.

Fucking brilliant - donation made, and great charity to support (I fucking hated my mother in law but by crikey did the Prospect do an amazing job in her last days).

Might have missed somethinng but will this be "watchable" (TBH would be amazed if it is in the current siutuation so apologies for asking if a cuntish queastion)

I'm planning to stream it live on YouTube. Only tech will let us down.

Whether the actual game will be watchable is another question altogether...

Good luck Costanza.  Just donated.  Sorry you are being denied the hilarity of seeing my silky (or sickly Im not sure) skills.  Work comes first. Hopefully they'll be another time.

More interesting names in these teams than the Town side yesterday!

Rather suspect that the more recently retired (and not through injury) Wellens and Hunt might be a class above the likes of Conor and Dave.

Was excited to see Alison up front but sadly, not that one.

More importantly, the fundraiser is nearly up to 5k - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/strangersshield

Parkin and Hunt have scored, 1-1. Fair to say the pace of play isn't the fastest.

Genuinely enjoyable, thanks to everyone involved, and brilliant to raise so much money for such a good cause. Much cap doffing going on over here in the direction of LSPOD regulars

11 a side is hard at the best of times but on a proper pitch even harder....Just due to the sheer size of it

Sore this morning but a wonderful afternoon hobbling around The CG for a great cause and thank you to all who took part and have donated so far. Credit to club staff too, including kit men, Danny Lee and groundstaff for helping out!

The silent auction for The Prospect Hospice ends at 9pm tonight too, should any items take your interest...

It's a really nice gesture.

I cannot emphasise enough that 'all sides' have been amazing throughout.

Massive thanks to all who have donated.

It was our pleasure to donate to such a worthy cause and I am sure everyone of us who donated feels exactly the same way, I wish I could have donated more than a tenner but it all helps.

At least Alan was still with us for this event that was organised by yourself and Chris Tanner.

Well done to you guys.

And thats an amazingly generous gesture from Clem.

A shameless plug as we desperately try and raise £10,000 for Prospect Hospice on behalf of the McLoughlin family.

£8,805 raised thus far and a big thanks to those who have contributed.

Cheers,
Rich.

Up to nearly £9,100 now. Sorry late to the game but just added my contribution.

Fair play also to the Oxford United fan who recently contributed.
