This is the Rochdale who, only a couple of games ago, very nearly beat Peterborough if wasn’t for their 96th min penalty equaliser. If there’s a club that hasn’t won at home in 18 games, then us rolling up must be a godsend.

My only faint hope is that we perform better away from home - be difficult to be worse - but I can’t really see any positives any more.

1 record that we cannot equal though is Doncaster Rovers in 1997-98 season suffered 17 home league defeats.

With Pompey and Ipswich our last 2 home games the most defeats we can get is just 15.

We can though still equal (and surpass) the 2nd highest total of home defeats set by Sunderland in the Premier League in 2002-03 with 14 defeats in a season.

We have already beaten Derby 12 home defeats in the 2007-08 season in the Premier League.

I still countenance the players are not as bad as they are performing, not all of them.  They are being sent out with muddled minds, muddled formations, the odd player here and there that shouldn't be there, which creates confusion, apprehension etc.  Footballers are a bread that are usually separated at this level by the brain - the mentality.

Take Hope - he's OK, he can cut a career between this division and the one below, but he's a one trick pony and you only use him if you need a player to perform that trick.  Asking him to play left back is not going to help anyone.

Payne - a luxury player for most teams, and Isgrove type.  You don;t ask him to be the teams water carrier.

Palmer - probably an attacking midfielder who is always going to look shit as a holding midfielder.  A player that has been able to get a Championship level contract before us, who has a highlight real that looks completely different to the player we have been able to see ALL season.

And so on.

We are seeing the worst that every player can produce right now.  Whether their best would be enough is another question, but they are never going to produce that in this set-up.

We've had some bad Managers and we've had some bad teams, this is the worst Management team I've ever witnessed.  Take Williams - he failed, miserably, but you could see what he was trying to achieve, he just wasn't much kop at making it work and was hamstrung with player quality and couldn't change.  Then you look at Hart - terrible tactics, but he was doing it for a reason, just shit at it.  King/Iffy season - mixture of terrible quality in the team.  The early 80's, and so on.  None of it has a sniff of this level of incompetence.  I mean, I don't remember a time where some fans were seriously discussing the fact the team was being sent out to lose on purpose before.

I have never said anything else about Wellens apart from I was gutted he left but didn't blame him for going.  I have always said I would have him back in a heartbeat, and I have also said that I believe he has been our best manager since Di Canio (as far as style of football not style of management).

What everyone tends to easily forget with Wellens is that it was not just his managerial capabilities but also the way he united the club and the fans, communicated well with the fans and was always involved in the community.  Sheridan is a shit manager, I think we can all agree, but take away his managerial capabilities, there is no reason why he couldn't attempt to unite the fanbase with the club, communicate to the fans more often and in a less contemptuous manner.  We are left with asking whether he can be bothered to turn up - that's where we are..

My concern would be that no one in their right mind is going to take the club over with the FA investigation and possible sanction hanging over our heads, if that drags out and with the scope for them taking ages and then subsequent appeals etc we could have a long wait, potentially well into next season, albeit you would hope that FA will want it sorted before this season ends.

Sorry to keep harping on about it, as we all have eyes!! However.

The last few games I've started to watch Taylor Curran more closely to see if we are being overly harsh on him and my conclusion is that this is a guy, woefully out of his depth that based on the rumours as to why he is getting picked should be absolutely busting a gut for this team, and from what I have seen, he simply isn't doing that, not in the slightest.

Putting aside his complete lack of heading ability, (Theakston has been banging on about it for a while and he is spot on, he barely leaves the ground to compete for a header) positional awareness etc (he occasionally puts in a good tackle so that's one attribute he might be able to work on) his total lack of work ethic is nothing short of shameful. Watch the first 2 Posh goals, or the goals from last night, he is literally sauntering around instead of busting a gut to back and help out the defence. This is for me is my biggest issue, players that are not putting in the effort, I just cannot for the life of me understand that you are in a professional team supported by thousands of people. When you pull on the shirt the minimum you do is put in the requisite effort to show you care.

Unfortunately the effort Mr Curran puts on the pitch is the same as the chairman off it, perhaps that's telling. And don't get me started on the Broadbent for Pitman change last night. I'm half expecting after the end of the season John Sheridan to go down the tunnel and 10 seconds later Jeremy Beadle to run out with a grin and explain how its all been just a total joke. Because that's what this club is like at the moment, just a massive massive piss take.

The comms on Ifollow (Is it Andrew Hawes?) was pretty scathing about Jewell last night. Basically asking what the head of player recruitment must be thinking watching such a miserable side.

As I’ve been resigned to relegation for ages, I was pissed off at just how pissed off I felt listening to the radio commentary last night. Poor Hartley and Hawes sounded exasperated at the all-round incompetence for much of it.

I think given the magnitude of the shite they have had to watch and commentate all season both Hartley and Hawes do a very good job in my view. I thought last night they were particularly patient and only some very subtle good humoured barbs at Shez, Curran and Jewell were thrown in.

i'm with you Tans, I have supported this club all my life but I am ashamed to say I am a supporter now!  Get rid of the lot including the faceless Steve Anderson.

I haven't heard the interview but Hawes did make reference a few times during the match about Curran not doing things a professional footballer would do but in a pretty subtle way. It seems he went in to Shez quite hard during the interview and quite right too.

He wasn't even that hard on him in all honesty. He rather just asked the questions that needed asking. Hawes has become great at asking direct questions whilst also retaining some level of respect and sensitivity to both himself and his interviewee.

Even El Dino noted that this is indeed Hawes job to get answer whilst asking difficult questions. Yet the Johnozoic one always gets his Ptera feathers ruffled at the mere tickling of a Curran based question.

It's always well worth listening to the Post Match and Hawes has been increasingly more confident. My cap is finely doffed to him, it's a thankless task but he is very good journalist. Probably deserves a gig higher up. He's getting into Gary Rose territory for my own list of "All time influentional local reporters" and I can say, it's kind of a Brian Clough sized list. In some ways, Rose had it "easy" because he was around mostly for the good yet crazy times of PdC. I think Hawes is conducting himself greatly in what is a hugely difficult period for both fans and professionals linked to the club. Especially when they happen to be both :)
