I know little about racing but love a little flutter on Cheltenham.

I'm on Ballyadam (1320), Abacadabras EW (1505) and Busselton (1615) today.

Completely free £5 bet on Paddy Power FYI.

Love Cheltenham week, off work tomorrow so will be able to watch the full day.

£30 treble pays £182

2.30 - Alnadam

4:50 - Galvin

£1 e/w Lucky 15 pays max £1560

I'll do my usual and win my first acca then lose it all by the end of the week.

Nothing exciting

1.20 Metier
1.55 Captain Guinness (really didn't see any point betting against Shishkin in this but had a dream about Guinness last night so its a sign and all that!)
2.30 Aye Right
3.05 Epatante
3.40 Dame de Compagnie
4.15 Houx Grix

I have been absolutely hopeless at picking winners the last few weeks (not a proper gambler by some distance but watching the racing on a Saturday afternoon has become quite the lockdown highlight for me and the missus!) so fingers crossed!

All about place betting for me and especially at the big events when surprises can happen and big prices end up in the frame.

Short and sweet from me today  ;) :horse:

Here are mine. Good luck all!

Although, I'm a bit pissed off that ITV has created a montage/VT for last years Chelt Fest, essentially justifying going ahead.

They would've been better making a film that celebrates all the good and focus on being able to have the event this year in the right way.

To boot they include Piers "opinion flipper" Morgan featured in it. Almost in a starring fucking role.

Haven't got a Scooby about the horses, but bored/working from home, for a bit of fun picked 4 selections based on posts above and put on a Lucky 15 EW (and I don't even know what that is, only that Charlie Austin mentioned it on Twitter last week, but I think it gives me multiple chances to win  ;D :( ;D).

First selection in 13.55 won.  Beginners luck?????????????

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2021
Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, 14:30:56
Chunky, a L15 basically gives you all permutations of your selections. The e/w also gives you the place part of all perms too :)

So your "stake" is on an individual bet but lots of smaller bets depending on how much you put on per stake but even 10p e/w on a L15 can bring in a decent days return if all successful. Probably money back on around 2winners or 1 win and 2 places.

Cheltenham fairytale stuff there.
Vintage Clouds, a forgotten runner up.
First Cheltenham Festival win.
11 years old - seen as a plodder.
Anything but, showed the young'uns how to race 3m+.
Great stuff for Vintage Clouds.

Showed class throughout. 33/1 (28s at post) and in cheek pieces too.

Yeah so if you think of it as splitting the bet up into win and place. The  right now you have 1 winner and 2 places.

This means you've lost your win part of the 4 fold but the place part is alive. Your place part for a 4-fold, four trebles, six doubles and four singles is still alive (15 perms). Your win part for a treble, three doubles and three singles are still alive (7 perms).

Basically, get a winner next and it makes your last selection much more exciting, but even any place from here puts you in beer money territory. Plus you usually get a bonus payment if you only get one winner on the win part (from memory but winning on the place may negate that).

keep it fun :)

Don't think you're going to get rich on the odds you're getting there.

Don't think you're going to get rich on the odds you're getting there.

Haha, more about compounding for me SM (which is why I bet directly on the place, get better prices for the place rather than say 1/5 or 1/4 of the win odds).

Goshen decide to race a different circuit to most there so messed their chances up and faded. Great run by Honeysuckle though and Epatante fails to win again. Nice money for Sharjah but only the Mullins/Townend die hard backers would've been on that. Goshen definitely fucked up at least being RU there.

Bet still alive but only a couple hundred now if it comes in. Another one losing and I'll have to buy my own chips tonight :D

Well that was generally pretty shite, 4 places, between me and the wife we had no winners at all!

Strange meeting so far, seems to be a lack of depth in many of the races, over the moon for Vintage Clouds even though I thought about backing him and then thought otherwise!

3 wins for me, the first 2 winners (which anyone could have picked out) and then Black Tears pipping the odds on fav.

Shame that 80/1 nag beat out Saint Sam otherwise I’d have been laughing

All downhill from here

Not really a tip as such but the family that own 'Appreciate It' are from the same village my wife is from in Mayo in Ireland. They have 3 horses in total, their second, Sayo is running in the 2.30 today and is 50/1.

Stole a place in 4th after a strong finish. Their last horse is Kilcruit in the 16:50 and that's quite well fancied I think.

I had Kilcruit in my "like a placepot but more money". Decent horse. Toppathamornin' to your wife wife on those selections :)

My only racing connections were with Park House Stables nr Newbury. Andrew Balding & Co, nice family and yard. Were always very visible around the village, as was Claire (Clare?!) from time to time. Spent many a time watching on the gallops and would have the brief "hello" with I think David Probert, who has had much success riding for Kingsclere.

Be careful if using the free bet again today, they have changed the rules and you only get your money back if you're selection finishes in the first four.  Paddy Power still offering free £5 bet on ANY race at  Cheltenham this afternoon,  no rule changes.

I see some punter has done a £5 accumulator and the last leg is on Envoi Allen today

Stands to make over £500,000 if it wins or he can cash out now for £275,000.

He’s done a partial cashout now

Leaving him with about £320k if Envoi wins, £270k if the field wins

The guy tweeted this last night. Its not 500k, but i dont think he's going to be annoyed.

So after celebrations last night, 4 hours sleep, an hours walk at 5am I’ve decided to take a partial cash out offer of 300k Envoi / 250k the field. With other bets my position on the race is £322,000 Envoi or £250,000 the field. Thanks to
@BetfairBarry

Couple of longshots today, not really expecting any returns.
Treble
1.55 The Bosses Oscar
2.30 Min
3.40 The Shunter

Lucky15 e/w
2.30 Chris's Dream
3.05 Reserve Tank
4.15 Magic Daze
4.50 Sizing at Midnight

I have no knowledge of racing, just what i've seen on twitter from tipsters and what not.

There's my bunch for a nice placement payback.

1 down. Thought it was too early for Envoi. Had betted in it previously. Cracking horse but needs more time.

Chantry is always a strong finisher mu only bug bear is that I wish I'd put on Chantry House to win. Beautiful odds with all the mkney and tipsters on Envoi.

Safe betting lads (and lasses). Always keep it fun. Here's my completely free from Ladbrokes (and Paddy too) £5 bet.

Ha! Get a winner then the next two fuck up. We Min was just outpaced there and would've got the pace but Alaho was incredible and shocked the rest of the field. Just kept on going. Not often that pace is maintained by a front runner.

Oh well, have those selections in perms of four folds on the PP free bet so I have 2 out of 4 more chances to land at least one four fold. Could land 5 of them though so plenty to play for...and it's all been for free :)

Well mine have been shite today, as JoeMezz said, tough calls today in some respects. Some stunning rides though.

No doubt I'll go and bookend my opening winner with a winner in the 16:15 or 16:50 (Mount Ida). No cigar lit this time though!

Title: Re: Cheltenham 2021
Post by: BambooToTheFuture on Thursday, March 18, 2021, 17:01:48
And there we go. Bookended with  Mount Ida winning.

Bonus is, we get another chance with a £5 freebie tomorrow on Paddy Power but also, they have given me another £5 free bet already anyway. So have £10 to "play" with on Cheltenham  :pint: :pint:

Yeah there has been some incredible individual runs. Rachel Blackmore and Jack Kennedy both getting the most out of their picks. Although Blackmore has been given pretty much all the top picks. Takes nothing away though, she's bloody brilliant - and humble too.

Sean Curran... has a horse in the first called 'Talking About You' 125/1

If there is any connection. They really are trolling us :D
Could be inferring all the talk about Taylor.

Anyway, it won't win but if ever there was an omen or sweet irony - might as well chuck a quid e/w on it.

Will post my picks shortly.

Still, omens and all that. Was a pretty relatable omen, it did about as good racing as Town do getting results.

Here are my picks.

I had Quixilios in the first and Fiftyball (2nd after last hurdle, faded. Buggar) selected but my internet cocked up.

Really think it's written in whatever "fairytale" there is for Rachel Blackmore to take the Gold Cup on A Plus Tard. Unstoppable at the moment but we can't disregard Al Boum Photo going for 3 from 3 and I'm sure Champ will also have something to say.

Should be a cracking feature. First up though is the ever popular Albert Bartlett Stayers. I'll tip Statler and ThreeUnderThruFive.

Safe betting and as always, keep it fun :)

Minella Indo! A Plus Tard, another ½ length may have snatched it. Looked like Rachel Blackmore eased off with a ¼ length left.

No disgrace, chuffed for Jack Kennedy & Blackmore has been brilliant this week. Both jockeyed quality races there. Al Boum Photo just didn't have the strategy but that was more down to Blackmore.

Gold Cup
========
1. Minella Indo
2. A Plus Tard
3. Al Boum Photo

4. Native River

5. Frodon

Champ is alright just Nico de Boinville did the right thing and pulled Champ up. There were a couple of others that struggled from the off.

Nice one for my "Town End" pick just now with Townend winning on Colrevy.

I think this has been addressed before - there's no connection.
There used to be a trainer at Stanford-in-the-Vale, he was called Sean but I cannot remember his surname, if it is him there were never any children around when I used to call there
