Astrazeneca. Had it end of January. Next day felt as if slightly hungover with a bit of a headache, perfectly OK the day after.

Had annual Flu jab last November and have never had any after effects.

The only reason I mentioned the Flu jab as those who have had it seem to get less side effects when they have either of the Covid jabs.

Myself, my wife and her sister all had the AstraZeneca, I was done 4 weeks ago and the wife and sis in law last week.

None of us have had any side effects whatsoever other than a slight ache in the area of the injection from 2 days after for around 4 days or so.

did he have underlying conditions?

only asking because of his age not automatically being done yet.

if he got a 'use it or lose it' dose, fair play

No underlying problems and even queried it with the nurse on arrival and he was told it was because he's on the Army retained list and oten has TA events

Had the Pox one last Friday. I have had the flu jab for 24 years.
Went to bed late Friday night feeling fine. Woke early hours with sweating, chills and tremors. Went on for at least four hours. Had a headache most of Saturday and then a bit sweaty Saturday night. Arm still aches but otherwise fine.

My wife's had two doses of the Pfizer.

After the 1st - Sore arm / tiredness for 24 hours or so / funny taste in mouth.

After the 2nd - Sore arm. Felt a bit unwell in the evening following the jab. Mostly tired the next day. Then quite unwell on the day after that - shivers / temperature / tiredness. All spontaneously resolved and fine since.

AZ on Sunday. Sore arm, otherwise fine.

Found out that a couple of friends, both committed vegans, won't be taking up the offer of a vaccine.
On the one hand I admire them for sticking to their principles, on the other there is disappointment that they couldn't set them aside at this time with a view to the bigger picture.
They would have done their own due diligence and it wouldn't have been an easy decision given that both are vulnerable.

But yeah, animal testing would be the main one I guess.
The presence of "genetically modified organisms" might have been an issue as well.

Sounds like some grade A Facebook bullshit right there.

Taken from the AZ info leaflet that is dished out prior to jab.
I can see why some vegans or other groups might feel the need to do some background research or ask some questions to allay any fears.

"One dose (0.5 ml) contains:
COVID-19 Vaccine (ChAdOx1-S* recombinant)
5 x 10(to the 10th) particles

*Recombinant, replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus vector encoding the SARS-CoV-2 Spike glycoprotein.
Produced in genetically modified human embryonic kidney (HEK) 293 cells.

This product contains genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

The other excipients are ..... etc"

If their concern is that that means it contains ingredients from chimps, they've misunderstood. The AZ vaccine is developed with a vector that is derived from a virus originally found in chimpanzees, but it doesn't contain any ingredients of human or animal origin. Nor do Pfizer or Moderna.

Even PETA back this up

I'll ask them, out of interest, next time we meet. Whenever that will be.
It could be that the animal trials / testing may have been the show stopper.
To be fair the mainstream related sites I've had a look at do encourage ethical vegans to follow the medical advice when it comes to the vaccine and support the info above re the ingredients.

Better to stay healthy and carry on campaigning etc than the alternative.

Indeed, even PETA, who can sometimes be a bit out there, say vegans should take it on the grounds that the damage has been done. It's in the link I posted if you want to show it to them.
