Other strikers are however available on free transfers if Power can find 50p down the back of his sofa....
Somebody else’s sofa, surely.

This has indeed happened before.

Barrow seem to have announced a couple today.

Yes several teams do indeed, for whatever reason, not announce departures until a few days after the event.

Listening to the actual press conference from this morning. Apparently we had 4 or 5 enquiries for Hallam Hope. God knows from who.

Probably his agent touting him around as he was not getting much of a consistent look in here and the possibility of another non Sheridan player not liking the outlook. Obviously nothing came of the enquiries, depends also if we were asking money for him as well I suppose.

Was just thinking about Kevin Freeberg or whatever his name is, he was with us for 24 days in total from signing to transfer, thats got to be close to the record for least time at a club for a permanent signing ever?

Ah right, I forget as he was useless when he did play anyway, no loss.

The 'out' was a loan, so I don't know if that counts.

He went on loan to Oldham, who were managed by a certain John Sheridan at the time.

John Sutton was here for less than 2 weeks.

Nicky Summerbee's 2nd spell (which I don't think was a loan) was extremely short too.

Summerbee’s 2nd spell was just the one game I think. If I remember rightly it was a 2.1 win at home to Nottingham Forest.

Thinking back to DJ’s transfer, how it played out and caught everyone by surprise.. Plus how in his last game or two for us, he clearly wasn’t trying very hard and probs sick to death of the dinosaur barking at him every 5 minutes on the touch line.. DJ must of orchestrated his own transfer via his agent was touting him around with a price tag..? Seems a little suspect to me..

Charlton wanted DJ in the summer but they had their own takeover issues at the time. The agent would have known of their interest so didn’t have to work hard to find him a new club

Same that game was brilliant for just how much below the level of Forest Town were. Wes Morgan played for Forest that day I believe? Was a cracking day out despite the loss, I seem to remember several tongue in cheeks chants towards Christian Roberts. Did Lee Peacock hit the bar from memory? I'm sure someone did when it was only 2-1...could have been defining but unlikely, Town were a bit shit but we embraced it.

Remember getting a lot of plaudits from Forest fans for our gallows humour after the game. The only high point really. There was talk the players had gone out the night before which would explain a lot. Forest weren't a great team that season by any stretch!

So DJ’s money will keep the club until the end of the month but a £375k grant from the EFL isn’t enough to cover a months costs... Bogle’s sell on kept the club going for a month or two at a rumoured £500-600k.. £450-500k clause in the contract?

The numbers you quote all stack-up - it's probably between 350-400k a month to operate the business.  That's all running costs.  I doubt much income is coming through the bank account at the moment, so the grant would indeed be tight for a month.

As much as I rant about the current performance levels, that's based on the potential of the players, not based on the situation we are in - I have no idea how lots of clubs are making it to the end df the season.

if we are genuinly that close to the edge, why bring in new players? like mirisolou - especially when Grant is in the bench

sure we might get relegated, but it's better than going bust

Given other clubs seem to be hanging-on, I wonder if there is some sort of belief that they will all be rescued this year, so it's one to play chicken with Admin over.  Obviously very few are going gung-ho, but there is no financial reason that clubs should still be trading right now.

Not listened to Power yet. But the suggestion the DJ money keeps us going until the end of the month seems slightly contradictory to Wrights, the release clause was met, there is nothing we can do. Wrights line was i suspect bull shit from the club trying to save face.

Sorting the wheat from the chaff is nigh on impossible. Who to believe? I was convinced that by now some clubs would have stopped trading, yet the majority recruit pretty much as usual.

Most businesses having to absorb relentless losses month on month shed staff and close.

Football clubs are strange beasts.

Ah Trevor Benjamin, the flying wardrobe. That was my eldest lad's first away game, he had an absolute blast, seats right by the pitch so he was close to everything going on, bizarrely really good atmosphere and goals flying in (he didn't realise they were mainly against us). And he had a cheese and onion pasty at half time, which was the only bit he remember when we got home :) Doesn't even like cheese

Looks like we are not the only club with odd keeper problems, Southend just taken a keeper on emergency loan from the Mighty Heed due to injuries to first and second choices.
