It's just occurred to me that, despite the promotions we've had since, we've not won the playoffs for 18 years.

22 years. We last won the PO's in 93.

I thought that too, you negative sods ;)

Look on it this way, we could be about to see us win at Wembley for the first time in 22 years!

That special TEF positive thread we had seems well and truly buried now.

Opps. I knew the 93 bit, I had a malfunction somewhere.

So yeah.... 22 years!

Tempted to record this. Not seen the game before and might be worth a watch.

It was a bit negative and dour compared to Sheff Utd but in both cases our comfortable lead was cut back by 3 goals.  We don't do things easily.

just skipped through that game, i forgot how crazy it was, similar to the monday vs sheff utd, so many highs and lows....if sunday is anything like this it will be the end of me i reckon!

After that game we bumped into Julian Joachim.

Gave him some awful stick.

Amazing how much the game has changed since then. There were two tackles in that first half (from Shaun Taylor and Ross Mclaren) that would've been straight reds in today's game, but not even a flinch then. What a game that was. I'm getting excited now.

For a pre match confidence boost the 1990 highlights are much more fun.  A glorious 1-0 thrashing.

I had been pondering the Sheff Utd game recently, the town end, how its was buzzing, how every single person in there seemed to be up for it that particular evening (normally its about 10) and how the atmosphere was as good as anything I can remember apart from perhaps the Lou days...then after watching the Leicester game, there was a link to this game below..had a quick shufty, and the Lou days came back to me once more...listen at about 1.05.10.

Those were good days when the TE and old south stand used to alternate Lou Macaris...

That was the first STFC game I attended that wasn't at the County Ground, as a ten year old - I remember being in complete awe at the amount of noise that was made all evening long - I look back on that match even more fondly than Wembley in 1990 or 1993.

Also one of my first away games at 18 we had a coach from the Lamb pub in Lambourn with bags full of celery the singing that night was second to none I think there were 10k Town fans .

38.10 is great aswell with our fans shouting rather than chanting :D More of the same on Sunday please.

I started going about then (86-87) as an 8/9 year old.
I still remember vividly the back and forth of the "Lou Macari's Red & White Army" and how amazing it was. It used to go on for 20 minutes or more sometimes.

The tackle from Taylor on Oldfield was pure class mind you.

Oh yeah, I totally agree, it was a great tackle. Just saying that in today's game that would probably be a red card.

You're right. Ah yes. The old slight change in key with renewed vigour.  Immense. I always thought we had support back then to be really proud of. Nowadays, by and large with a few exceptions it's pretty embarrassing. Let's hope tomorrow is a day we can be proud of at least.

Only when it was a really big game and we were doing well/on our way to winning i.e. that Gillingham game. I also remember it being sung vigorously a couple of years before when we knocked Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday out of the League Cup as a 4th Division side.

We sang it as late as the 95/96 season, a bastardised version broken up by clapping.

My most clear memory of that day wasn't the game. It was the party up old town later on. #roadblock

I remember Victoria Road being pretty much shut, people out on the road up to Wood Street and beyond. I walked home later to West Swindon with a red scarf on, people blasting their horns and stopping to offer me a lift. Buzzing.

Insane to think us lot harking back to 1993 is like, in 93 people harking back to 1971, only 2 years after the Dons finest hour.

And if anyone's reminiscing about the 1990 final today, again in 1990 someone reminiscing on a equal scale would take you back to 1965!!!

I had exactly the same thought the other day... me talking to my kids now about the Premier League is exactly the same as my dad telling me about 1969 in the eighties... that seemed like aeons ago to me at the time!!

I was thinking the other day will I ever get to see us win a major trophy or play in the Premier League. I was 9 when we last played in the Championshop and although I was going with my old man at the time, i barely remember any of it.

That's really up there with my colleagues "so you were an adult when the Phantom Menace came out"  in the confirming I'm fucking old stakes. Ta.
