UPDATE:

From now on each RSS news feed is an individual topic stickied at the top of news. The feeds should update in time but because they are embedded within the post, the topic itself doesn't get updated i.e. it won't keep appearing in your recent or unread topics list.

If you want to discuss specific news links, you will have to setup your own topic the old fashioned way :)

News Monkey won't be posting new topics from RSS feeds from now on.

p.s. The appearance of the feeds could probably do with a bit of tarting up - essentially I've sourced the code from elsewhere because my HTML capabilities are piss-poor, so if someone else wants a crack at a more elaborate/better looking solution crack on and let your friendly admin team (even Jayo) know in this thread.

Can you add another section onto the recent posts bit?  So only the news feeds appear in that one and doesn't push other posts of the list.

There's probably a way to do it. Unfortunately we're running a really old version of SMF.

Also I don't think this is going to stop the posts going to the 'Recent Topics' list, but at least they won't flag up as being unread/new. Oh well.

I'm in the same boat. We had a poll that showed most were happy with the status quo. But no, power crazed cunts decided to fuck about anyway.

The poll was hidden away in a sea of pointless links....dodgier than deciding Bush v Gore, on the basis of hanging chads.....or in this case monkey hanging.

So I'll still see new news as unread, but contained in their own threads ?

Can't you direct Tapatalk to the News feeds? I'm sure you can even bookmark the 4 threads with the feeds in them.

Probably, I'm being argumentative because I'm resistant to change.

I note that FLIC Wiltshire seem to have put feeds in - can anyone techy add a thread for them for completeness?
