Title: Player Sponsorship 14/15
Post by: Berniman on Friday, July 11, 2014, 11:45:21
OK, since I am the only volunteer so far (happy to hand it over if anyone would prefer) I have put up the poll for the players listed in Flash's post (though the club has stated that Tyrrell and Connor may go out on loan)

Rather than have 2 threads, can those that are interested in donating please vote in the poll and then post their desired contribution in this thread (even if you have already done this in the other thread)  I will start pulling it together.  Only vote if you intend to donate.
We only have 5 days before the priority window closes so let's get this going now so that I can get things in place with the club before this date.

Flash can you PM me any details that you have and the contact details, thanks.  If I have missed anything feel free to pipe up!

Cheers
Berni

In case it wasn't obvious £10 from me :)

We have 4 votes but 3 pledges, so whoever voted but didn't post, you're a cunt who can't read instructions...

Yaser takes an early lead...

Well done BM, thanks. I'm in for a tenner or twenty if we come up short.

You know that you will have to emulate the Flash's dislike of Cooper now, don't you?

Early days I know, but so far we have £250 with a further £50 in additional pledges if required (taking into account the pledges from both threads) so not bad for the first few hours.

Once Flash sends me the details I'll give the club a shout letting them know that I am organising this year and to make sure that Yaser is still available as the erly running suggests that he his going to be our man.

So we have hit the £300 mark with £60 in reserve from additional pledges should we need it.  Do we want to go for home shirt (£650) or away shirt (£450), bearing in mind that we might not have a choice depending on how much is pledged..

Just trying to establish the target we are trying to hit here...

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 14/15

We are currently at £420 with £60 reserve.  Though that might be £410 as Dozno9 has pledged but looks to me like he has closed his forum account now (perhaps a mod can confirm and I'll remove his name from the list)

Flash has given me contact details and I have emailed and asked the question about the availability of Yaser as he is still winning by quite a margin.

Unless we start getting significantly more pledges it is looking more likely for an away kit as we are still around £200 short for the home kit.  I'll get an idea of how much time we have to play with when the club responds to me tomorrow.

Keep it going though, anyone that is happy to chuck an extra tenner in if require please make yourself known soon, it will give two bites of the cherry when it come to carrying out the draw.  I am in Austria this week but will keep an eye on things on this outside of work, and give you all an update on the response from the club.

Cheers
Berni

Not that it matters really, I have removed Ward and Harley and added Marshall and Randall after the adver piece, not that it really matters I don't think.  It is a 3 horse race between the Thompson's and Yaser, and it would take a FIFA style vote rig to take it away from Yaser now.

So we are currently at £510 including the reserve and assuming that Dozno9 is legit.  We still need to find £140/150..

I am sure we can do this...  Let all your forum buddies that haven't logged in for a while know and get them to login and pledge..

I sound like Lenny Henry :)

So we are now at £600 with the additional tenners (£590 if Dozno9 is gone?  Can a mod check for me?)

The club sent me a quick message today that Yasers home shirt may have gone, they will know by Thursday, but his away is available.  If it does go I suggest we go for the 2nd choice if we want to go for a home shirt, which will be Loius at this point.  I'll keep you informed when I get more info.

Still need another £50/60 people...

RedRag, you might want to get that tenner back, or not?  Flash will be grateful for the first beers being paid for on matchday.

Have taken Dozno9 off of the list.  So we are at £600.

Just 5 more pledges of a tenner and I can confirm with the club that we want:

1.) Yaser Home, if gone...
2.) Louis home.

Is everyone happy with that?

I want the extra £50 pledge by Thursday if possible so look down the back of your sofas people...

Still waiting to hear back from the club re Yaser's home kit, and if not Louis.  I expect to find out tomorrow as that is cut off for renewals, so should know one way or another by Friday.

Once I have confirmation I will contact you all with payment details.  I will provide Paypal details and Bank Account details for online banking.  If anyone needs to pay in an alternative manner to this (other than those that have contacted me already) PM me and we can sort something out.

Good news!  Message from the club:

Hi Paul,

I have spoken to Yaser’s sponsor from last season, and have said that The Townend Forum would like Yaser!  He is more than happy for you to take him, based on you being a larger group of supporters.  He did say that Yaser was absolutely superb at the dinner last year, and great to sponsor.  If you could at least get a 25% deposit to me that would be great, and ideally the rest before the start of the season.  The programme with you as sponsor’s will go to print a few days before our first game, hence needing the balance before then.  Many Thanks,

K/Rgds

Adam Wainwright
 Marketing, Sales & Hospitality Executive

So I am going to start PM'ing you all my Paypal and bank account details by the end of today.  I understand that some will be unable to pay until the end of the month but I aim to have at least 25% in by early next week so that I can get the deposit paid, so those that are able please make payment over the weekend/early next week so that we secure everything.

Make sure if you are paying by Paypal that you tick payment to friend or family as I don't want to have to pay any charges to withdraw.  Also make sure that you add you forum name in the notes for the payment on both Paypal and Bank so that I can keep track of who has paid.

All going well, Yaser is ours.  Any problems let me know, or PM me.

Ta muchly.
Berni

Good stuff guys, the payments are coming in steadily and I have enough to pay the deposit.  £270 in so far.  Don't let this stop you paying though, we have time but I don't want this dragging on until the start of the season.  I know some will not be able to pay until the end of the month on payday etc. which is fine, but I want to get this done and dusted by the beginning of August.

Apart from one, all payments have gone through fine and you have all followed the instructions so keep it up.  Just a note, for some reason my bank doesn't show the notes as to forum name who has paid, it just gives the account holders name (most of the time).  Luckily I know most of those that have paid by bank transfer and worked out the rest from posts on here.  If you want to pay by bank transfer please make sure you post that you have paid on here and state that you used bank transfer, I should then be able to match it up and work out what payment belongs to who.

I will get in contact with the club now and get this deposit paid so that Yaser is confirmed.

Keep it going people :)

OK, deposit of £250 paid = We have our man!

Adam at the club has told me that they are producing programs for the high profile friendlies, and our sponsorhip may or may not make it into them, so don't get upset if our name isn't listed under Yaser.  I don't think this is too much of an issue anyway.

I have told Adam that I will pay the remaining £400 at the beginning of August (we are currently at £340 including the £250 deposit so £310 left to collect)

Good effort so far people, £340 collected in less than 24hours is top work indeed.  That will be it for updates for the time being until nearer the deadline, unless anyone screws up their payment :) but don't let this fall off your radar if you haven't paid yet, the earlier I get the money in the earlier I can pay up and we can organise a draw for the prizes.

Ginginho (Phil Mitchell) is on standby for any non payers :)

Cheers
Berni

We've got the target, you can see if you can sort something out with someone who has payed more than a tenner if you like?  Just let me know what you have arranged if you have managed it and I'll make the adjustments to the records.

Having said that, if somebody doesn't pay up I will give you a shout.

This is not a hurry up on the money, a lot of people have told me when they are paying, end of month and so on, but I seem to have an extra £20 unaccounted for in one of the accounts.  I would rather us have more than less so it is no panic, but I think either somebody has paid and has not indicated either by PM or on this thread or I am going blind in this heat and have not seen a post (even though I have been through it a few times).

So I am going to list those that haven't paid according to my list (again, I am not hassling you).  If your name is in this list and you have paid can you post on here or PM me please.  I am trusting you shifty fuckers here, so no saying you have paid when you haven't :)

Doesn't much matter does it? We (collectively) largely slung in a tenner or twenty quid a head as a good way of showing further support for the club as a group, so it's not really a value for money proposition. If the club can sell all or most of the slots at that price, then it suggests it's probably priced about right, surely?

Possibly priced right ( never buy a programme so dont know the take up on sponsorship ( individuals v companies )
Although there was a £200 hike on last seasons prices.

OK, all paid up, club has confirmed that we are in tomorrows  program as Yaser's kit sponsor, and apparently the program is very nice this year (in full sales pitch)

We will move onto the draw once the season is in full swing in a couple of weeks, let's get the first few games out of the way first, we might need something to look forward too :D

Well done boys and girls, top work...

I am in Turkey at the moment on an all inclusive piss up.  Will get this sorted the week after next when I get back.  Unless anyone wants me to send them the excel sheet with the names on and you can sort it out between yourselves?

I'll check back when I can to see if there are any takers...

I think a pissed Berniman doling out sponsorship goodies is about right for the TEF.

Just post on here who you think should get what, but only when you're good and utterly bladdered. That's fair.

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 14/15
Post by: Berniman on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 15:24:37
So, suggestions on the fairest way to do the draw, i think we need to improve the way we have done it before.  I could set up a vote by number etc. but there are a lot of numbers, especially with some people having their names 2 or 3 times in the hat depending on how much they put in.

I am going to take the shirt, for organising this bollocks, so the prizes are (and let me know if you disagree with what I have done:

1.) A pair of tickets to any home game (Arkells seats only)
2.) A pair of tickets to the sponsors dinner (Sat on a table with Yaser) you also get the pleasure of meeting the other TEF winner of this prize.
3.) A pair of tickets to the sponsors dinner (Sat on a table with Yaser) you also get the pleasure of meeting the other TEF winner of this prize.
4.) Book Yaser for an event for him to appear at, get him to dress up in a Mankini and be your bitch for a day etc.

I am taking my name off the list, as it wouldn't be fair to win a prize when I have already claimed one.

You lot have until I return from my piss up to come up with a fair and sensible way to carry out the draw, if not I will just go back to the good old name out of the hat, which is a shit way to do it as I am sure none of you fuckers really trust me anyway.  Somebody in TEF land must have a better solution?  Come on boys, thinking caps on...

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 14/15
Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 15:40:58
I fully appreciate that you need some kind of compensation for taking the time to organise everything (I did the same when I sorted it) but the signed shirt is probably the most sought after 'prize'.

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 14/15
Post by: Berniman on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 15:43:46
OK fair enough, I'm happy just to stick my name in the hat and see what happens..

1.) Signed Yaser Shirt
2.) A pair of tickets to any home game (Arkells seats only)
3.) A pair of tickets to the sponsors dinner (Sat on a table with Yaser) you also get the pleasure of meeting the other TEF winner of this prize.
4.) A pair of tickets to the sponsors dinner (Sat on a table with Yaser) you also get the pleasure of meeting the other TEF winner of this prize.
5.) Book Yaser for an event for him to appear at, get him to dress up in a Mankini and be your bitch for a day etc.

Go for it...

Take a set of tickets and then take another shirt there for Yasser to sign.
Then you get your compensation and a signed shirt!

I didn't say you shouldn't, but perhaps put it to those who contributed to decide.

As for the draw, I used an online 'draw names from a hat' program which worked fairly well.

Tbh I didn't do it for the prize, I stepped up because nobody else could be bothered, it's no big deal.  Although I do like DV's idea, maybe I will do that.  I know clare at the shop so could probably get a deal on a shirt with Yasers name on it, and I am sure Adam at the club who I arranged this with will sort out it being signed, I might even be able to get a photo opportunity for my son who will end up having it anyway.

I'll take the tickets then, probably go to the shitty match with them.

Unless anyone comes up with any better ideas I will sort out the draw next week when back in Swindon and recovered from my alcoholic coma...

That actually sounds like a better "reward" for Berniman for sorting it all out than the shirt tbh. Esp as you could take your lad with you. But as someone who chipped in (but couldn't be arsed to organise it) I'm very happy for you (Berniman, not DV, obviously) to allocate whichever reward you want before drawing lots for the rest. Personally I didn't do the sponsorship to have a 1 in 40 (or whatever it is) chance of drawing a signed shirt anyway and I doubt anyone else did. So, take what you like and thanks for sorting it all out.

Title: Re: Player Sponsorship 14/15
Post by: Berniman on Monday, September 8, 2014, 15:03:02
I'll stick with the match tickets, at least I potentially get some entertainment then, can't  be arsed with turning up for the sponsors dinner to be fair.

I'll sort the shirt out and get hold of Yaser at some point to get him to sign it.  Might be worth something in the future when he becomes Iraq player of the year.

Right I am going to run the draw tonight, I am having the pair of tickets so the prizes are as follows:

1.) Signed Yaser Shirt
2.) 2 Tickets to the sponsors dinner
3.) 2 Tickets to the sponsors dinner
4.) Yaser as your bitch for a booking of your choice (presenting trophies etc.)

Everyone that contributed has got a number issued to them, those that donated £20 or £30 have 2 or 3 numbers.  I am going to ask four regular posters by PM (who haven't got involved in this) to randomly pick a number between 1 and 65.  The first one to reply with a number will win 1st prize, 2nd will win 2nd etc. etc.  Once I have all of the winning numbers I will announce them to you (hopefully tonight as I will pick people that are online)

Good luck everyone, I will announce the winners later.

The dates for the sponsors dinner are being released this week so I will let Sheepshagger and Tans  know as soon as I get the confirmation.

@Jutty, you will need to tie up with Tans or Sheepshagger to arrange to pick up your shirt as I believe it will be handed over to one of them on the night.

@MarkyTee - re the player appearance:  The appearance can only be requested for a Thursday afternoon or evening and the club require 2 weeks notice at least.  If you have something in mind you will need to start letting me know about it.  Either that or I can provide you the names of the people that organise this at the club so that you can arrange, I will just need to give them your name and contact details so that they are aware of who you are in advance.

I will provide an update on the above when I get it.

Cheers
Berni

OK, Sheepshagger and Tans listen up.  The Players Sponsor dinner details have been announced.

Dear Paul,

I trust this e-mail finds you well?

The date for the Player & Management Sponsors Dinner has now been set.  The date for this very enjoyable annual event is Thursday 19th  March 2015.  The dinner will follow last seasons’ format and will incorporate both the Home & Away Shirt Sponsors, as well as The First Team Management and Backroom Team Sponsors.  The Legends Lounge will once again be the venue, and The BBC’s Shaun Hodgetts will again host the dinner.  We all look forward to welcoming you and your guests to the Lounge on the 19th from 7pm onwards.

A big thank you to The Townend.Com for the sponsorship of Yasser Kasims Home Kit, as part of your Sponsorship you are allocated 4 places.  Please confirm that you are able to attend, and if you will be taking your full allocation?

If you would like to invite extra guests to this event, over and above what you have been allocated as per your sponsorship – The cost is just £25.00 (INC VAT) for the first two guests, with any further guests charged at £40.00 (INC VAT).  The event is sure to sell out, with only 50 places remaining!  So, please book early to avoid disappointment.

Please kindly confirm the total numbers for your party before close of play on Friday 13th March, and please advise us at the earliest opportunity of any Dietary requirements your party may have, so we can naturally inform our catering department in good time.

Yeah got ours through today as well, I've ordered the beef for tans with extra laxatives. If you're reading this Yas, enlist for the army or commit a crime that day, anything to avoid attending really. It really is the sensible decision. This will be my first overnighter in Swindon, since I slept In the multi storey car park near the Brunel rooms in 1982.

On a seperate note:

The club are asking for donations of things suitable for prizes for the night, to raise money for the NSPCC and club (i assume).  See below:

Dear Paul,

I hope you received your invite to Swindon Town Football Clubs Annual Shirt Sponsor’s Dinner.

As you will be aware there will be a raffle and an auction on the night, and I would kindly ask if there be a prize you could donate? The club will ensure when the prizes/auction items are announced that your company will be noted to have donated that specific prize.

Our charity of the year is NSPCC and a proportion of the funds raised will be donated to them to support the fantastic work they do locally in Swindon and the surrounding areas.

Thank you in anticipation of your donation.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards,

Kay

If anyone on here has anything that you feel is suitable to be donated as a raffle prize, let me know and I will arrange to collect from you or provide an address for you to send it to.  I will then take it/them down to the club before the date of the dinner..

Surely we can come up with some goodies?  Either personally or from some of our employees?  See what you all have got lying around and let me know.

Cheers

OK, Sheepshagger is unable to attend the sponsors dinner so has offered his pair of tickets up to the other contributers.

So, those that are interested and able to attend the dinner on the 19th March please comment on the thread so that I can put you all into a mini draw to win the 2 tickets.  I will do the draw on Wednesday evening so you have roughtly 48 hours to lodge your interest by commenting on this thread:  Only those that contibuted to the Player Sponsorship can chuck your name in the hat... If you don't register your interest/ability to attend by commenting on this thread you will not be in the draw..  I am not going to PM anyone, so if you know contirbutors that want to go that don't come on here regulalry please let them know.

I already know that Herthab wants to attend, so his name is already in the hat..

Good luck, 48 hours....   GO!

I have this signed ball which I won in a auction a couple of years ago.
Just sat in the closet and I have no use for it.
No idea who has signed it, but there's a lot of signatures on it, although a couple are slightly smudged.

Edit: I would hazard a guess it's from 2011-12 season as I can see Adent Flint, Jonathan Smith and Oliver Risser.

Will happily donate it if it's any use.

Cheers Ginge, offer is appreciated.  However I am assuming that there will be some signed stuff, probably including balls, by the current squad so I am going to decline on the offer.  Think we should leave the Swindon Town memorabilia to the club, seeing as it is an official club do. This does officially take you out of the tight arse catgory though and you join Flash in the generous fuckers catagory :)

Cheers though fella

I think Cooper surprised a few people last night. He was very open, answered all our questions honestly (he didn't duck any) and he was a good laugh. nice to meet up with Berni and some of the London Reds (even Sutton).
When myself, Ralph and Tans were sitting in The Merlin at 6, Downing sambucas, I thought it was gonna end up messy but it was very civilised and sophisticated.

Asked him about Ricketts; he said he'd identified a need for defensive cover due to probable suspensions and when he heard Ricketts was available he went to Power and got the ok. Ricketts, as well as being able to play in any defensive position has also got valuable experience for the run in and is money (on wages) well spent. I asked where Agombar was, the answer was on loan at Grays. I also asked (tongue in cheek) when he'd get his chance. Cooper's answer was that his contract's up in the summer.
On promotion, he feels we've got a playoff spot as minimum, so we might as well go all out for autos. Asked him about frustrations with certain players 'over playing'. He agreed that some players biggest development area is learning to play as part of the team, not as an individual. Luongo will definitely be gone in the summer, Wes could stay, but only if we get promotion. Of the loans, if we don't go up he'll be surprised if we can get them back.

Ooh err, it's looking a bit dicey for next year then if we don't go up. Not that we won't go up of course. I have faith.

Nice to see you all had a laugh and the lads were allowed to let their hair down a bit afterwards.

It's waaaaaaaay too early to begin speculating on how we will be looking next season. Putting aside the fact that we may well go up, even if we don't go up we don't know what players we will be brining in. It could be that we end up improving on the squad we have now.

This. We will have so much money from sold players and Coops/Power have proven that they can un-earth some diamonds plus we have good relationships with so many premiership clubs that are eager to send us their best & brightest. Bring it on.

Had a laugh last night, my view of Cooper being a miserebale fucker in his interviews has changed, he was on top form last night and was a good laugh.

My favourite part of the night was getting Herthab to wave at me halfway through the auction and almost getting him to bid £450 for a signed Luongo canvas...

Great to meet Herthab, Ralph, Tans an Sutton...  Fairly play to Ralphy for splashing out in the auction also..

One of his Australia shirts fetched over a grand in the auction last night. I bid £2.50 for a case of 'quality' Arkells wine. Fortunately I was outbid.

He actually did the the £1k bid himself and won it, then relisted and it sold for £600. Not sure about ye sanity of the bloke that won the Luongo canvas for £1k though!

Was thinking about this last week but then thought it better to wait until we have enough players to make a list out of.

I am happy to arrange again, but am also more than happy to pass the baton to somebody else if anyone else fancies it.  If there are no volunteers to do it, then I will set something up in the first week of July, hopefully we might have some names and a bit of movement by then.

If you want to get involved but are skint, you have no excuses as you have 3/4 weeks to steal or stash some money, plus there is another pay day before then..

I see Saxondale's current lifestyle as a vein attempt for redemption of years of alcohol and drug abuse and immoral abuse of allowing girls back stage in exchange for sexual favours.

That's what the rock and roll lifestyle is like, right??
