Title: Brazil v Germany
Post by: kerry red on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 17:27:13
Dont know about anyone else, but I shall be cheering on the Hun tonight.

Never thought I would ever do that, but Brazil are a bunch of serial bruisers the likes of which I thought had been consigned to history.

Argentina, hopefully, tomorrow and there may be a final worth watching.

Brazil v Argentina would be shite

Tell you what, I wouldn't fancy reffing Brazil v Argentina in the World Cup final in the Maracana. Going to make a lot of enemies whatever you do.

Both teams look very flawed, but Silva and Neymar missing is a big difference. Silva and Luiz together are a fantastic combination (stop laughing just because the BBC tells you Luiz is shit, he's not when he's alongside Silva, like how Cuthbert was great with Greer guiding him). Will be interesting to see if they change how they play...

Really interesting game. Taking a look at the website of a prominent controversy loving bookmaker, I can tell you that the oddsmakers don't have a fucking clue who'll win either (2.75 Brazil, 2.80 Germany).

10/1 for the Deutsch on penalties looks tempting though. Worryingly for Brazil, Fred is their shortest odds striker to score first which will be difficult if he doesn't start moving occasionally.

2-1 to us after extra time. We take a 1-0 lead, Brazil score with 10 mins go to, then Schürrle scoring in extra time

Apparently Brazil and Germany have only ever met once before at the WC, the 2002 final, how strange.

Further the Hun don't beat Brazil in friendlies very often either...can't see past a Brazil win tonight, even though they're unimpressive.

Pissing this.

I'm sure all Brazil's introspective  fluff regarding Neymar didn't do them any favours.

Whilst Brazil miss Neymar, it's the lack of Silva that is killing them.

The defence is a total shambles.

Luiz is shit no matter who he is playing alongside.

Laughed a bit when the BBC billed him as the lynchpin of the Brazilian defence tonight.

On a couple of the goals he's just been wandering about aimlessly flapping his arms.

If this was a 5-a-side game you'd swap a couple of players round to even it up a bit or give them an extra player. Laughable.

I know they want to make a showpiece of the semi finals, but it doesn't seem fair that the winner of this game will get an extra days rest before the Final

I still cannot get my head round PSG paying £50m for him. Unbelievable.

On most of the German goals, Luiz is in the background slowly jogging towards the action, his hair bouncing, like he's filming a shampoo commercial or something. Any decent defender would be running like fuck to get back even if they're not going to get there in time.

It's ironic that Fred is getting booed, but David Luiz is the biggest culprit, being captain, but he couldn't organise his defence to save his life, and his defensive 'skills' have cost them at least three goals.

Really want Holland to lose, can't stand them - so arrogant.

The Dutch "total football" sides of 74 and 78, were fantastic, so I'd always had them as a second team after England, but the disgrace of the 2010 final clogging, and to a lesser extent Robben's diving has tarnished them for me.

Before the tournament, I said Argentina would take my support once England went, but if Holland do win, then images of Frank Rijkaard flobbing on Rudi Voller's perm will do it for me...

I had a cheeky £2 @ 9/1 for Germany on the spur of the moment at 7.30 :(

I tried to put a £1 on 7-1 while it was 5-0 but couldn't get paddy power to accept the bet :badmood:

So that's one overrated South American team humiliated. I Hope the other one gets clogged tonight.

Based on Robben's cheating antics so far I'd like them to get beat.

I didn't see the Mexico game and I know that Robben has a habit of going down easily, but for me, he's been the player of the tournament so far, pace, goals, effort, he's a top player.

I don't know what it is, but I just don't like Argentina, Messi aside, who of course I admire massively. Take Messi out of the side and they are very ordinary.

He goes down easier than that bird in Magaluf.

He is number one on my most hated list, so for that reason I'm cheering on The Belgrano Boys

Agree, and it's not as if the Argies are averse to diving etc.

Fair enough. I presume that you hate Chalky White for that same reason?  ;)

Of course not. He played for us!

And, anyway, he was nowhere near as bad as Robben and diving against Gillingham isn't quite the same as on the world stage for all to see

Wash your bloody mouth out. Its a testament to the God that he stayed on his feet so much after being blatantly fouled time after time after time

Gillingham?

Sorry. Didn't realise you were referring to a specific penalty.

Robben is an anywhere, anyplace, anytime diver.

Anyway, Chalky was hacked down for sure!  :3rd:

David Luiz's heat map yesterday, not what you expect from your centre half.

Question is, which goal was he supposed to be defending?!
