Title: England v Honduras
Post by: 4D on Saturday, June 7, 2014, 10:10:37
So then, what do we reckon for tonight?

I'll say 2-1 England, with a bit more team tinkering

A highly entertaining score draw, with some people saying "if only we had decent defenders we could win this thing"

2-0 England

The scoreline is irrelevant. We just need a hopeful performance going in to the Italy game next week.

Utterly pointless and a risk of injuries. They would be better off doing fitness work under the conditions of the world cup. They'll learn nothing tonight.

I reckon it's worth a run out to be fair. 7 days before the big one, I can't see it doing any damage. Yeah there's an injury risk but I have complete faith in the squads ability to achieve fuck all.

I'd love to be able to give some tactical analysis, but unfortunately, ITV Player.

I like how Honduras have a giant H on their kit though.

Ooh, game stopped due to lightning storm.

On the bright side, I think we're ahead on the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Sturridge had to score that chance he had, we wont create enough in the group stages for him to miss chances like that.

I have itv player on mute on the iPad, while the missus watches suits on netflix on the tv. Why is the match suspended because of a storm, is that normal? It's just rain isn't it? Poncey bastards!

Storm update: hoddle is wiping the sweat off him with a tissue.

Chiles also has tissue in hand but hasn't wiped yet.

Edit, wright also has a tissue, Dixon the only pundit tissue free, he had a sheet of A4. Cool as ice Lee Dixon.

ITV are struggling to fill the time GLORIOUSLY. This might be the best 40 minutes of telly I've ever seen.

Lightning strikes a couple of miles from the ground. Apparently totally normal for this time of year there.

:Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

The bit at the end was even better

Chiles "So, we're hearing that the storm has passed and we should be restarting soon"

Not-the-stadium-manager "So, everything I said was true then?"

The more I watch
this England team play the more it interests me.

It's got the potential to be an absolute car crash of a tournament or we could set it alight?

No idea!

Oh and why is Joe Hart advertising everything and no other players seem to be?

I thought Arriba was being a bit harsh earlier but he may well be right on the injury shout. Fuck me these Hondurans are dirty fuckers!!!

Well that was dull....

Needed a little bit of luck but we had enough chances to win two matches.

Diabolical based on the warm up games.

Ah well, we look prepared. Barclay > Rooney. We created nothing tonight against a hopeless side. Things look good!

Title: Re: England v Honduras

It was a write-off once the lightning arrived which is a shame because it's not good preparation.

We looked better without Rooney, who seems to constantly lose the ball when he plays for England, but I get the feeling we will continue to persevere with him because he's still regarded as our "best player".

I think there is the potential for a world beating midfield/attack in there somewhere with the ox, lallana, sturidge, Barclay, sterling, wilshere, justnot sure on the right combo. We look vulnerable with Johnson playing fullback at the moment though.

I'm sure you're joking?

Have you ever been in a tropical or sub tropical thunder storm? If you have then I know your joking but for those that have not and for the sake of argument youtube Floridia Thunderstorms. We're of there shortly and I have been warning my son on how violent, how quick they bubble up from nowhere, how dark it gets and how you can't drive because of the volume of rain coming down.

As for poncey bastards, ask that lad from Dorcan Academy what it's like being struck by lightening.....

Yeah, you are joking....

Rooney will start against Italy. Why do we still keep playing him when 90% of our country know that Barkley is going to be more effective?

They usually don't last long and by the time they turn up in the afternoon you're greatful for the respite. Ponchos at the ready!

Everyone still banging on about how shit Rooney is with only one mention for Glen Johnson. Is he really the only right back in England? Shocking player.

Off the top of my head I can only think if Clyne at Southampton. If only Seamus Coleman was English!

Ah yes, He has completely fallen off the radar. Remember the other highly rated footballer Michael Johnson at Man City? He's about 16 stone now, some fall for the kid.

I did think at the time he would be Englands right back for years to come, but I think injuries have taken their toll on him, he was/is so big and strong and solid.
