Title: Watching the WC abroad
Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, 13:11:21
I'm going to be in France for England's first game, staying down near Nice and Cannes. Don't think I'll have TV or wifi where I'm staying, which makes it tricky to watch given its a midnight kick-off... anybody got any suggestions?!

Surely any pub over there will show the game?

Quite possibly. I've found one or two places that look like they'll be showing it as long as they're open til 2am. Just wondered if people had any recommendations!

Morrisons in Cannes
The Blue Lady in Antibes
Ma Nolans (Old town not the port) in Nice
Stars 'n Bars Monaco
Kellys St Tropez

Other boozers are available but they're my favourites.

Most of the small bars will stay open as long as someone's buying, all over france. I've even watched matches in landlords front rooms in the middle of the night.

I thought this was going to be a warning about bogs.

Going on holiday to Sicily tomorrow for a week so watching the England game Saturday night could be interesting. Hope there are more English fans in the hotel or the flag I am taking might not get an airing as I do not wish to upset the locals - horses head and all that!  :hmmm:

Show the flag. You'd get a decent sleep, and fishes to keep you company.

Tempted to nip across and watch the game somewhere in Sanremo instead now, just for a laugh. Expect I'll stick with Nice though, some good suggestions above.

Might have to watch week two in Barcelona because of work.

If I go anywhere it'll probably be George Payne's Bar but it'll probably be the hotel room for me though.

I've just realised that with the work I've picked up, I'm flying out to Luxembourg on the 2nd July and will probably be on a tour bus from then for 3 weeks which might make the knockout stages a bit difficult.  Which is a bit of a pisser.

Oh at the Rockhal. I hate that venue, crap location, difficult to get out of (if you have to drive) and basically in the middle of an industrial site.
