Post by: @MacPhlea on Monday, May 26, 2014, 19:49:09
Thanks to Berniman and Flasheart for helping test this but the Word Cup 2014 prediction league is up and running...  login using Facebook connect and it should automatically create your predictions that you can then review and edit

I could never be a program developer. I'd just end up telling it to fuck off and play football manager instead.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Now fuck off and play Football Manager.

Title: Re: 2014 World Cup Prediction League
Post by: @MacPhlea on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 12:45:49
It's used more to verify you are a real person, also to greet you with your name and also so we can update you, if you opt in, to get updates on your predictions -

We request access to your friends who are also using the app so you can compare scores (feature to be added...) - this is optional but will add to the fun...

Most importantly we don't share it with anyone else and if you deauthorise then your account and predictions will be removed

It won't do. The score and minute of the first goal are determined by the players on the pitch.

Can you check if you have javascript enabled

Go to the Chrome menu and select Preferences.

Select the tab Under the Hood.

Under Privacy, click Content Settings.

Select the JavaScript tab and choose the option Allow all sites to
run JavaScript.

Close the window.

Refresh your browser, either by using the keyboard shortcut Cmd+R or by using the Reload button in the toolbar.

OK just reading up on this - before today i had not defined no cache - it may be that you need to clear your cache to allow the new version of the page download...

Title: Re: 2014 World Cup Prediction League

I get a pop-up saying that my prediction has been updated. But the page does not actually update until I manually refresh the page.

Title: Re: 2014 World Cup Prediction League
Post by: @MacPhlea on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 20:27:34
Thats weird because what I changed was in the server side code so shouldn't affect the client side javascript... still works fine on safari and crappy ie9 so not sure why it doesn't work on chrome...

Title: Re: 2014 World Cup Prediction League
Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 20:35:21
The pop-up thing isn't new. It's been there since I could first access the page

Title: Re: 2014 World Cup Prediction League
Post by: @MacPhlea on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, 06:32:47
I know... that's what is weird. Anyway, I have now added a query string that should indicated if the page has been refreshed or not.... when you close the prediction the url line should end with "prediction=updated" it should force the page to reload as the address is different to the one you are viewing (this could be a quirk of  your ISP trying to save bandwidth by ignoring refresh calls from within the page if they are for exactly the same URL...)  - give it a try and let me know

Oh my God, how are you going to cope without pictures of people's dinner, shares of cats doing 'hilarious' things, or people posting countless pictures of their horrible children?

Seems like you can't operate a successful Coup d'état without Facebook.
