That's too good to turn down.

Bit worried about the need for it though...Perhaps its nothing...

Was probably planned all along, either as a safeguard for low sales or an appeasement for increased prices. Or both.

10% of STs are bought as a gift
10% of STs can be found in the Merlin pre-match

I have been umming and awwing about getting my first ever ST at the CG. I had a look yesterday and was going to wait until the end of the month (payday) but given this deal, I think it has probably swung it for me. Good work by the club.

Yep, well done to whoever at the club decided to do this, brilliant idea to get some ST money in early. All those who buy now can feel dead smug as we win every game left in the season, smash Brentford 14-0 on our way to the Playoff final where Fatty Evans' Wovwum side feel the sting of our patient style and we win 10-0 to get promoted to the Championship.

Not that I am suggesting it or want it to happen, but normally when the club tries to sell ST's early people accuse the owner of wanting to jump ship etc.

Title: Re: 10% off STs
Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, March 6, 2014, 22:13:31
Not so much that but people claim its to keep the club running as we have no other money. Its funny no one said thay when Fitton and Co were here. The real reason is budgeting.

13.50 a game in the town end with 10% off. Thats cheaper than this season.

Title: Re: 10% off STs
Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, March 7, 2014, 00:07:26
Knowing our history the company could fold and the club cease to exist at any time. Worrying about the timing of season ticket sales is a bit stupid.

Incidentally, it's 00:05 on the 7th March and I don't get the 10% off online. I demand a further 10% reduction for the inconvenience caused.

Bad. Our core home gate for this season is about 7.5 mostly made up of season tickets, as not too many people will pay the walk up price, other than away fans.

How many had we sold this time last year?

Got an easier question? Approaching 5000 by end of June is the best I can do.

http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/10502138.Season_ticket_sales_up_10_per_cent/?ref=rss

I do remember being surprised how many we sold after early bird finished though.

Incidentally, when do renewals held seats go on general sale? Could do with another U10 ST seat, but need someone to have vacated as there aren't any free around us.

It's going to be interesting to see how the squad shapes up for next season....we do have a likely decent nucleus of players who have something to offer...also we know that a few high wage earners will be off the budget, so I see this largely as a reasonable situation to be in.  There are a few question marks....notably TAH, Ranger and has Harry Agombar done enough?

Did Jed go back to Banbury? I'm sure there'll be a gig for Harry there if so.

Banbury are on a run of 8 straight defeats...the latest being a 0-7 home thrashing by Hungerford...a side replete with ex STFC men like Mark Draycott, Luke Hopper, Ian Herring and can it really be Alan O'Brien. (think someone flagged this up a while back)  I wonder if the presence of so many has anything to do with Andrew Fitton....

We don't know. We do know that we sold about 5k last year overall though and that gave us a budget this year that necessitated substantial cutbacks. Common sense suggests we probably didn't sell 2000 of that 5000 once they went up to full price and won't do this season either. The vast majority of those who are going to buy season tickets will do so in the early bird period, which has a couple of weeks to go. So, yes, I'd say it's pretty dire. And has worrying implications for next season's budget

As you're quite entitled to. And we may yet have a late surge in the early bird window which would remove those worries. But I think if you're expecting a great surge of sales after that, you're likely to be profoundly disappointed. Let's hope they extend the deadline at least

Hereford need something to happen for them...serious danger of Conference North or out of existence.

Made me laugh on daily politics yesterday when talking about whether anyone is worth Rooney's 300k a week and the Conservative MP, who frankly did not seem to be at all interested or understanding of football surprised me by saying he supported Hereford and called for people like Rooney to donate parts of their wage to lower league clubs to stop them going out of business.

Martin Ling and Paul Bodin.

Fuck me. If that's the best you think we can get I'd rather stay with Cooper.

As you're quite entitled to. And we may yet have a late surge in the early bird window which would remove those worries. But I think if you're expecting a great surge of sales after that, you're likely to be profoundly disappointed. Let's hope they extend the deadline at leastEh? Where are you getting 3 months from?

Indeed.  Last season, there was a decent amount sold after early bird, because we were still in with a realistic chance of being in the championship.  Not the case this time around, so I'll be genuinely surprised if we sell a great deal more.

Could we honestly be looking at gates of less than 6,000 next season? Worrying.

I did renew in the end.  Couldn't bear the thought of not being able to come on here and moan about the rubbish I'd watched  ;)

Call me a cunt, but I'm going to save my worrying until I see some actual figures that are not based on guess work.

There's over 3 months remaining to reach last year's total.
Cunt ;D

I agree. People are starting to moan about guess work now :-\

Loads of money for players then soapy tit wank

It's a beautiful spiral isnt it.. Fans stop going, hinders our ability to get better players, worse results, more fans lose interest. But then I've always been pretty vocal at the lack of success at STFC coming from the fans. Wonder who the first will be to moan about the lack of investment? Probably someone who didn't renew.

Got mine on deadline day.

#cooperout

That's pretty pathetic really. You sound like an Oxford fan.

Good point.

We should be hearing less from Chang going forward then! :)

It's a reasonable concern rather than moaning isn't it? Power has said (quite reasonably) that if season ticket sales fall, that will reduce the playing budget still further which, as Tails has pointed out, can be the start of a spiral. And it may be guesswork but it's hardly a blind stab in the dark to suggest that the majority of people who are going to buy season tickets will do so in the early bird period, rather than when it goes to full price. So if we sell substantially less than last year by the end of the early bird period, unless it's extended, that's likely to lead to a commensurate reduction in the playing budget. That's surely a reasonable concern rather than "moaning" isn't it? (And yes, I have renewed - 2 adults and a junior)

The effect of less tickets this time around should be less drastic than last time. Aren't we operating on a smaller budget than before the last round?

Title: Re:

We are 600k over budget.

We need to shift that AND adhere to a new sustainable budget based off projected income. If income drops presumably the playing budget will too to accommodate.

Nobody really know though i suppose.

You could join the TEF "go shopping with the missus tendency".....it's a growing faction. I suppose you'd need a missus though.

I remember my Missus suggesting shopping on a Saturday once, we ended up watching Town play at Blackburn in the afternoon & followed it off by going to watch the speedway team at Odsal in the evening :)
