Jeds holiday was a simple ruse, he used the time off to track down Fredi and killed him. He'll now be on sale from the kiosks around the ground at the first game...

I've said similar things in the 'so it begins' thread.

When there was all this negative vibe Jed was seen as nasty Jed, who rapes blind donkeys and steals Cola Cubes from disabled kids but the news over the last week has been generally positive and people aren't exactly vocal about it.

It's probably because the PR in the past week or two has been a lot better so people are now starting to feel a bit better about stuff. It's easy to spread rumours when the club is silent and for that reason a lot of people will buy into them.

I agree with this. I think it shows that keeping the fans in the loop is hugely important. Most doubted the concerts at the club but it appears that there has been some movement on this and it will be interesting to see if these first two dates are successful.

All we need now is a couple of good signing and fans will be holding Jed aloft  ;)

It's quiet because there has finally been some movement in a positive direction.

However, I know it's not even the end of May yet but we still need to sign some players...

It's close season and then a Bank Holiday...I don't think anything has substantially changed re the Board, still very much on probation. I'm sure issues will resolve themselves more clearly by the end of July.

Rumour has it that we are signing Titus Bramble and Matt Kilgallon. A gift from PDC

Agree with this totally.  However, I'm going to try not to speculate and pass comment in a negative manner about the Board unless concrete fact based information comes out which supports that way of thinking.

I get the impression that we are seeing why Jed is the public face of the consortium - or whatever they are?

Murrall may be a fantastic GM but painfully obvious that PR not his thing,  I suspect Jed came back from holiday and wanted to know what the bloody hell was going on, hence the PR offensive that has followed.

The Board have brought "Fredi" on themselves haven't they. Jed gobs it off saying we'll have answers and then explains the square root of fuck all. When he's pinned down to provide written answers, he behaves like a fucking 2 year old with one syllable answers.
Given the complete and utter clusterfuck of PR from the club, which could be taken as complete and utter arrogance and contempt for the average fan, then its no wonder some people take "Fredi" at face value.
They appear credible and some of what they say has been proved true - most unproven one way or the other and they were wrong on the concerts. They have apologised for this on the Adver forum.
I haven't got a clue whether "Fredi" is right or wrong.
Unfortunately, with this Board, I haven't got a fucking clue full stop but given our history I'll err on the side of caution.
I'll get a bit more excited when I see what team we'll put out next season.

It is certainly interesting, and I am looking forward to what they have to say next (if anything). As I have said before, the fact that they were spot on with Crouch gives me reason to believe that they are worth taking seriously.

Apparently so. Uwe Rosler's opinion is probably just slightly more respected in football circles than yours too.

In what way 'spot on' has Crouch involvement ever actually been identified or its scope confirmed?

Did Jed not confirm at the meeting with the supporters groups that both Crouch and Power were awaiting football league approval?

Yeah. I fully expect to be proven wrong with hindsight, but for large swathes of last season I was of the opinion Mcormack was only in the starting XI because he was captain. He'd be a loss, but in no way irreplaceable

Title: Re: 'Fredi'

I don't go too many games, but in the games I saw - he stood out as being garbage.  Possibly he was playing in defence at the time so maybe I didn't get a fair picture.

That last ditch tackle in the play-off semis was fucking class though.

Paolo actually admitted to playing him perhaps out of position sometimes just to accommodate him. Not because he was captain but because he's one of our best players.

Great attitude but not the greatest player ability wise, he would be a good squad player to have though because of his versatility.

Experienced, versatile and a leader. Every team needs a player like him. He was also pretty decent back in CM toward the end of the season..

Macca was excellent last year, my player of the year. Outstanding.

This year he's been average at the back and average in midfield.

Cheaper, younger players out there who could do the same if not a better job.

Title: Re: 'Fredi'
Post by: Batch on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, 21:47:35
I don't think there are many players out there that can do a better job. For years we made do with Pook type players, we have been spoiled by Ferry, McCormack and (when on form) Douglas.

That said last year he was not at his best. Seemed to improve towards the end of the season.

I'd keep but not break the bank.

Macca was great at centre back in league 2 but found wanting there at the higher level, was a liability too often at full-back and decent but not spectacular in midfield. I'd be shocked if we couldn't find an equivalent replacement central midfielder at lower wages, but we'd need to find a good leader to take over the captaincy as well.

I'm the same. Well it doesn't grate on me now, but I don't get why he didn't take a penalty either, leaving it up to a nervy 19 year old. He should have been big enough and man enough to take one.

Could it have been that McCormack takes a shit penalty and Storey takes a great one, in training at least.

Taking a penalty in training and taking a penalty in front of thousands of Brentford fans willing you to miss in a high pressured environment are 2 totally different things.

I was quite surprised that McCormack 'shirked' responsibilty a little.

Fair fucks to Storey for stepping up.

Title: Re: 'Fredi'
Post by: Paolo69 on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, 08:25:35
All true, but you can't have players who take shit penalties stepping up just because they're experienced.

Tommy Miller's penalty record before he joined us was one of the best in the game. No ones suggesting we should have brought him on (for obvious reasons).

True. But if someone is shit at penalties in training I doubt thousands of Brentford fans willing them to miss would improve them.
Storey wanted it and he fucked up. We move on.

But fair points made by you both, lets move on.
