Title: Ashes 2013 thread
Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, 16:22:51
Not too early, is it?

Australian squad announced today: Michael Clarke (captain), Brad Haddin (vice-captain), Jackson Bird, Ed Cowan, James Faulkner, Ryan Harris, Phil Hughes, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, James Pattinson, Chris Rogers, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Shane Watson.

What do we do without Johnson?

Jackson Bird sounds like he might be fun.

Also homeworkgate provides endless potential fun.

As for that squad, I'm delighted to see no Hussey (either) or Voges involved. Nobody terrifying in there, only Clarke is truly world class, Pattinson, Warner and Harris have their moments but outside of that we have nowt to fear but complacency.

Cook, Compton, Trott, KP, Bell, Root/Taylor, Prior, Broad, Swann, Finn, Anderson

vs

Cowan, Warner, Hughes, Clarke, S. Smith, Khawaja, Haddin, Siddle, Starc, Lyon, Pattinson

Fancy our chances there.

5-0 England! (We also have New Zealand and the Champions Trophy before The Ashes)

Steve Smith hasn't even been selected.

They've only picked one spinner...cue a few turning pitch later on in the series.

Good point, was getting a bit carried away there with my preferences!

They've only picked one spinner because they're trying to get Fawad Ahmed a passport- apparently may be available from the third test onwards.

It'll be a tight series...we're not as good as some think, and they're not as bad as some think.  A lot depends on the fitness of KP and Swanny.

Quiz question.....which Aussie has played for Wiltshire?

That is the weakest Aussie team I can remember in years - Probably back until Allan Border's early years.

They'll sneak one somewhere along the line.

4-1 England. Make that 3-1 I'm sure the weather will mongoloid one test.

None although I suspect you are angling at Chris Rodgers
