Title: The Masters
Post by: Abrahammer on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, 18:46:17
Almost time for the best tournament of the year, had a few quid on:
Donald 16/1
Scott 33/1
Simpson 66/1
Haas 90/1

Expect Tiger to be in amongst in, even when his game was at it's worst he still did well around Augusta, now he is getting is form back he must be a serious contender.

The real winner will be the beauty of Augusta National as per normal

And golf raquets are very expensive.

If you're having a punt worth looking at Paddy Power - paying each way to 6th (rather than most places to 5th) and money back on your win bet if Woods wins it.

Have gone e/w on Bubba Watson and Bo Van Pelt myself, but think McIlroy could smash it if he turns up firing on all cylinders.

Hope the weather doesn't affect it too much with thunderstorms there today, if it softens the course up too much it will be tough for the shorter hitters.

Only had 1 bet. Donald e/w

Golf is fucking ace by the way Samdy. I love the masters.
Tough game to play properly but watching a shot come off is a great feeling. Can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be too.

Bubba Watson is great to watch as he curves the balls flight like nobody else i've seen.

Post by: DMR on Thursday, April 5, 2012, 09:13:09
Bubba Watson won't have a fucking prayer you've gotta hit it straight at Augusta not all this powerfade bollocks, he's a flat course bully and his putting is pony.

If Rory plays well he wins, simple, he's the best on the planet and seems to have got his putting sorted.

I too have backed Donald e/w, Woodsy e/w at 16s when he shot that 62 last month, and Kyle Stanley e/w.

Could be a classic Masters, so many players hitting it well at the mo, can't wait.

e/w bets on Bo and Hunter for me. Think one of the big dogs will win it though.

Title: Re: The Masters
Post by: Arriba on Thursday, April 5, 2012, 10:54:29
Agree Bubba won't win this. Never seen a ball flight like his though it is insane.
Rory will be stronger for his disaster last year and won't throw it away if he has a four shot lead going inot the last round this year.
I can see him and Tiger fighting this one out but think Donald will be right there if either isn't bang at it.

Title: Re: The Masters
Post by: Abrahammer on Thursday, April 5, 2012, 11:31:26
I think Tiger could be back in which case it might not matter how Rory, Donald, etc play.

Westwood needs to a get himself a major pretty soon before he is past his peak and the opportunities start becoming less frequent.

Any live streams available?

I see Woods fucked up his tee shot on the first and second, getting a penalty on the second. Yet parred them both.

I backed:-

Bubba Watson @ 50/1 - £1
Jason Day @ 40/1 - £2
Luke Donald @ 16/1 - £3.75
Rory McIlroy @ 6/1 - £12

Paid with the placing I got for Keegan Bradley in the Houston Open.

£20 e/w on Hunter Mahan @33/1
£20 e/w Jason Day @ 40/1
£20 e/w on Ricky Fowler @ 100/1
£50 win Tiger Woods @ 5/1

Rory McIlroy @ 6/1 - £12

Bradley will go close to winning this.....though starting double Bogey wont help...Stenson is 6 under after 11 including two eagles

Holed a couple of ballsy par putts since as well to stay ahead.

Still plenty of life in it though, all the top 10 will fancy their chances if they can get it going on the back nine

Come on Padraig.

Can't see Oosty blowing up though. Ice man.

Those two short birdie putts that Padraig has missed could be the difference.

Didn't think I stood a chance of any of my bets coming in so didn't want to jinx myself :)

With two chances to win you get the feeling that Bubba has had his chance.

Both shanked it into the trees on the 2nd playoff.
Been a very enjoyable evening of golf.
Will be even better if Bubba wins ;)

You have to think Louis must hole this to have any chance

It's got to be Bubba's now

Title: Re: The Masters
Post by: Ginginho on Sunday, April 8, 2012, 23:32:16
Well if he doesn't, Bubba has two puts to win.

I have a whole £1 each way on Bubba.

Title: Re: The Masters

Fair play to Bubba, a deserved winner.

Also a Shame that Westwood's putting let's him down.

Didn't really mind who won in the end. Kinda wanted Oosthuizen to win, but incredible second shot from Bubba there.

I'm fairly sure that early in the final round, the BBC Text Commentator said that if Watson won he'd name his firstborn Bubba.

I hope he enjoyed the show :D

Title: Re: The Masters
Post by: Abrahammer on Monday, April 9, 2012, 08:35:26
I assuming the fact he just adopted means he wont be technically having a first born.

I also never thought his style of play would win a tournamnet like this, just shows that golf betting is as unpredictable as it gets.

Must admit i'm surprised Bubba won. Didn't think his game suited Augusta but know he is a bloody good player. He is deffo one to follow around a course due to the shape he puts on the ball. Westwood will be kicking himself,if his putter was working he would have won it by miles.

Yeah, the way Oosthuizen was holing so many saving putts from 10-12 feet thought he'd get it done. Watson's ridiculous shot from the trees on the 2nd playoff hole worthy of winning any major though.

True the other side of the coin is he was very lucky to find the ball most winners need some luck and that was his.

It wasn't so much Westwood's putting that let him down, it was more the fairway to green shots that left him with such long puts, he was so close with so many puts, but was too far away to start with he left himself with little chance.

Was an entertaining tournament. Last 14 majors, 14 different winners. Who said golf was boring?

I've never said Mickelson was shit, he's unreal sometimes. I just said his long game is bad. Which it is.

Watch the 4th again Leefer. Case in point.
