Title: 'Comazzi deal looks done'
Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, June 25, 2011, 05:24:07
...well according to the Adver any way (and the Gazetta de la Thingy in Italy). I have to say, I am very surprised having read the players comments the other day. Based on that I would have said there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell of him signing but that does not seem to be the case.

I had never heard of him until a couple of days ago and would not know him if he walked up to me in the street and punched me in the face but his name alone tells me this would be a fantastic signing

Good news.

Who has been messing with his wiki page then...

It was confirmed in June 2011 that Swindon Town Manager Paolo Di Canio was interested in signing Comazzi for the 2011/12 Season[2]. A little known fact about Comazzi is that he can play the theme tune to Shaft on the kazoo.

15.05 - Another Italian abroad. Comazzi Defender, last year at La Spezia, has signed a two-year with Swindon Town, the English team coached by Di Canio.

If its in the Gazzetta it must be true :)

Welcome aboard Comazzi, hopefully.

I'll believe it when its on the OS shirt and/or scarf picture.

The adver article hasnt been posted directly in here but I love Di Canio a bit more every time he speaks.

If he walks the walk even half as good as he talks the talk we're going up as fucking champions.

More of a realist with distinct leanings towards pessimism I would say. I like to think of myself as a realist with optimistic leanings. It's much more fun ;)

As a great man once said, a realist is just a pessimist who likes to think his opinion is more valid.

I think its fair to say when it comes to STFC pessimism is the realistic option!

With regards to Comazzi though, a player's appearance record is usually quite telling. It does not necessarily tell the whole story of course but his looks pretty solid. Only two games when at Milan but he was only a kid, a 'lost season' at Lazio (but he must of done pretty well to get picked up by them in the first place). Other than that though, very steady and at a good level:

1996-1998    Milan              2    (0)
1998-2000    Como (loan) 59    (1)
2000–2001    Monza     29    (0)
2001–2002    Lazio               0    (0)
2002–2007    Verona    170    (3)
2008–2009 Ancona(loan) 30    (0)
2009-10    Verona      23    (0)
2010-    Spezia        7    (1)

Hardly?

I would have thought the pessimist would have accepted our relegation to League Two in December and had given up so long in advance that he had become comfortably numb to the actual relegation.

Where as the optimist would have been forever thinking we'll turn it around, we'll go on a run we did it last season, we can do is again this season. The likes of Prutton and Rose are good players in Wilson we trust. Then they'd be gutted when we actually got relegated

You need to add Spitfire cheese to that list.

Additions can only be made after a full and frank debate as to the relative merits of the cheese, and a collective decision arrived at.

A little research shows that Spitfire cheese is made by something called the O*ford Cheese Company, thus rendering it totally unacceptable in the present febrile atmosphere....some might argue a banning offence for merely suggesting such a thing.

No mention of Dolcelatte.... nice cheese that, and italian.

Anywho, Comazzi looks quite a beast judging from that clip. Perhaps we should sign the guy that put the dead ball in as well - fantastic delivery that!

There's nothing like a brief, isolated video clip to help me make up my mind that a player is going to be a world beater. What it didn't show though was the red card he accumulated shortly after...when he was exposed as a flapping, poorly positioned, one paced defending carthorse.

Shame.

There was this one time, I think it was around 01/02 we we're playing Wigan I think and we won a free kick by our corner flag (foul on one of our defenders) and Duke was assigned to take it. He put the ball where the ref said and prepared to take it, Reeves was shouting at Duke to steal a few yards and bring the ball forward, Duke moved the ball forward but Reeves kept on signalling him to bring it forward more, one of the Wigan players signalled this to the ref and the ref told Duke to move it back. Reeves just looked at Duke, shook his head and said ''you fucking idiot''.  :D
