Title: Crewe on Saturday
Post by: 4D on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 06:24:28
I see that Crewe will be playing with three at the back on Saturday, according to the Crewe Chronicle. Could be interesting.

I'm guessing they'll pack the midfield and try and bore us to death. Fucking dull and annoyingly effective, their boss has always played that way.

Hopefully we'll hit them on the break a few times, if Kanu is fit we could really punish them.

I think Robson-Kanu will start from the bench.

Whatever the Icelandic chap has done thus far has clearly worked - I'd take dull but annoying effective football in order to stay in this division :)

I guess it will be up to Cox to start pulling their centre backs around a bit and get into the channels behind the wing-back things and for HRK to find the passes... I don't know I'm not Jonathan Wilson.

So what do we know about Crewe then?

In the Guardian the other day Steve Claridge did his scouting report thing on one of their midfielders, made him sound like a cross between Patrick Vieira and Paul Scholes, then rated him at £300k.

According to DW on Radio Swindon there must be an extreme doubt about Kanu, and he stated he will not select him unless he is 100% fit!

Hard to call. Tough game, they're all tough. But they're all winnable (and losable) and it'll come down to either whoever wants it more, or a bit of luck.

Crewe aren't all that, that's why we are so close together in the league. And their fans are probably worried about £2m rated Simon Cox.

Danny Wilson was playing down HRK's chances of being in Saturday's squad on BBC RS earlier.

I would like to see RAZAK unleashed against the Railway men.

I note that he scored a fine individual goal for the stiffs the other day.

If Kanu isn't fit i'd be tempted to go 4-3-3 with Razak joining Cox and Paynter. Our only other option could be to push Kev onto RM.

3 at the back for crewe, with the spare man marking cox out the game?

They are quoted as saying " there are no specific tactics to contain Cox, but revealed they will stick with three at the back".

I think the more concerning thing is that if HRK is not fit then they can stick a man on Macca and we all know once he is man marked that's usually his game over a lot less crosses - and that will blunt a lot of our attacking options, but if HRK is in it is no point man marking one of them as the other will do just as good a job and will know how to use the extra space

the more concerning thing is the defence and goalie, thats been apparent all season.
