Agree about kennedy and he certainly helps mcnamee when he overlaps. Just think its time for some experience and tbf timlin has done well bar that game.

But you would rather see Sturrock than Corr, yes?

Title: Re: Stockport game
Post by: leefer on Sunday, January 4, 2009, 13:58:10
Ime hoping the new manager plays our players in there rite positions...Timlin is a midfielder so lets hope he plays there...Timlin was awfull the last match because he is a ball player and kept trying to play his way out of trouble, for me alot of our troubles the last few seasons is MM or Byrne tinkering every week and playing players out of position.
Timlin has done ok in midfield so leave him there.

Title: Re: Stockport game
Post by: DiV on Sunday, January 4, 2009, 14:01:59

But you would rather see Sturrock than Corr, yes?

Yes, but I managed to lose a game (our only win as it happens) over Xmas I'd pick Paynter over both of them though.

I'd perfer Sturrock to Corr because hes a better footballer and probably fitter but similiar to McNamee and JPM we need to get the ball to him for him to be effective.

If we're just going to play hoof ball game we might as well start Corr because hes tall!!!

Paynter to make a scoring return!

Title: Re: Stockport game

The games is about 99% certain to be called off unless we suddenly get a heatwave from Thursday onwards - pitch is frozen solid and covering it will not help... Back to home renovations for the weekend I guess...

Not surprised. Just been out for lunch and the ground is like concrete even where in the sun.

The met office aren't exactly predicting a warming until after Saturday so it looks like it's off! I wonder if we can fit a game in on the days we were supposed to be playing Milwall and Hartlepool? Otherwise January is looking a bit barren on the football front.

What's The Arena, Dan? I was a bit worried that the weather would affect the amount of time spent on grass. That's where the problem is after all!

As Batch said its a massive indoor astro turf pitch at Ciren, probably cost a fair bit.

When Andy King was here I think it was, he struck a deal that we could use the arena in winter and as/when we wanted within reason and in return we would pay a small fee and have a friendly with Ciren every season.

Quote
A pitch inspection has been called for 12pm on Friday to assess the playing surface at The County Ground prior to Saturday's proposed fixture with Stockport County.

The inspection has been called after the recent freezing temperatures have raised doubt over whether the game can go ahead.

Should the game not go ahead on Saturday, then both clubs have agreed to play the game on Tuesday 13th January 2009 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

It's currently thawing out down here LR, but the groundsman said the frost was pretty severe in some areas of the pitch.  Think the problem will be it's gonna freeze again tonight, and not warm up enough in the day to properly defrost the surface.  I think it's gonna be a chilly one on friday night too, which ain't gonna help.

The problem I expect as normal will be down by the DR stand as the roof keeps it shaded so it won't thaw as quick as the rest of the pitch

Well the snow and ice seems to have melted round these parts. I don't know what the CG pitch is like and has been said there is the issue of the DRS. Yesterday they were looking at calling it off tonight or tomorrow so maybe a midday inspection means there could be some hope.

So judging by what it looks like outside, I'd say it's 100% off.

I must have looked a right mincer walking into work today, my shoe have zero grip and it was like walking on an ice rink this morning.

Please note I don't work at the link centre in the ice skate hire booth, I just mean it's slippy outside!

It cannot be on. If Walsall was called off, this is 400 million percent worse.

Tuesday night's ideal, I booked the time off to go to millwall so it's not a total loss.

I'll still be pissed off tomorrow though.....

Paynter has been named in the Chippenham reserve squad game for Monday ... this must mean Kyle to sign today on loan and debut on Tuesday night :)
