Title: Florist V Swindon Matchday Thread.
Post by: herthab on Saturday, February 16, 2008, 07:20:18
Not expecting much from this one tbh.

They've only lost once at home this season and with Coxy out I think our workrate will suffer.

A draw would be a good result. 1.1.

I had the strangest dream that we beat Swansea 4-3 after being 4-1 up however can't happen as we've already played them twice this season!

My dream was so vivid though its scary.

1-1.  See it as being quite tight.  If we can keep the pressure on them for the 1st 20-30 mins, then the crowd will probably start getting on the players back, as reported from other games at the City Ground recently.

Im not sure on this as we tend to perform better against tougher opposition so maybe we will get a point or more?  I do however, see it as unlikely and think it may be a game of several yellow cards and possibly a red.  Kanyuka, I also fully expect to make an appearance as the defenders are in for a tough game.  Tyson and Agogo will prove tough.

It all depends on which Swindon turn up!  A Huddersfield or Northampton type performance would mean a heavy defeat, but if MM can motivate them it may be a lot closer.

I'm convinced we'll win, but then why would i drive to Nottingham if i believe we will lose, may as well just stay at home rather than enduring a miserable journey home.

2-0 Town, both own goals would be ser-weeet!

Kaid has been used as a winger, and so pretty inconsistent. The pure pace and ability is there to be seen though.

I agree. He's pretty good.

I had to switch the Brunel commentary off. Not because it was particularly crap, but because such a big roar goes up every time Forest get the ball it sounds like they're about to score when in actual fact they are probably only on the half way line. It was doing my nerves no good at all :?

Sounds like a pretty comprehensive 1-0 - need more strength in midfield + consistent scorer(s) up front - the view of someone who can't get to a match home or away - shoot me down now please :D

Got to the allotment this pm to find someone had nicked all my earlies and half my mains (spuds) - any policemen fans to give me any tips - most of the other allotment holders are pensioners so they won't run away  :old:  :old:

Midfield - to be fair Easton is on his way back from injury and Peacock was ruled out yesterday

Strikers - Corr and Cox both out today

I didn't go or even listen to the game but I'd imagine if we were weak they'd be the areas where. I do think another central midfielder would be beneficial but given who was missing today and given Forest's home form I'm not going to get disheartened by a 1-0 loss

nothing much between to the two sides.

Pook at fault for the goal, did really well to win the ball off of Agogo then took it forward, held onto it too long, ran into trouble lost it....through ball....then Tysons squeezed it past Brez at the near post.

Title: Florist V Swindon Matchday Thread.
Post by: STFC_Chris on Saturday, February 16, 2008, 21:02:17
First half we were decent and had a few chances, Brez made a superb save. Second half Forest were much the better side. For the goal, Pook did well to win a tackle then did nothing with it, lost the ball and Tyson was clean through for a 1 on 1 with Brez... decent finish perhaps should have saved it though.

Forest missed two absolute sitters once they were a goal up, McGugan (?) was the worst managed to work his way through the defence just the keeper to beat, from about 10 yards and he put it over the bar.  :o

Title: Florist V Swindon Matchday Thread.
Post by: Scot Munroe on Saturday, February 16, 2008, 21:26:09
Brez got caught out at the near post tbh it was a good finish by tyson. 1st half display was pretty decent we made some chances and was not clynical in front off goal. 2nd half we were poor u can see forest had a bollocking at ht by Calderwood and were dominant through out the 2nd half.

i though we were shit to be honest, not once did we look like scoring, Blair Sturrock is so shit, he just went through motions and didnt seem to try at all, Pook was very shit, McNamee looked bright but Chambers had the better of him, also McNamee should never try to use his right foot again!

Comminges had a decent game as did Paynter who did pretty much everything that was asked of him(apart from score of course)Ifil and Aljofree did pretty well but we were very poor in the midfield and Paynter got no assistance. The ref was a fucking homer-Forest players knew that they only had to fall over to get a free kick-several of them in dangerous areas.Couldnt understand Malpas' reshuffle when we seemed to play a squashed up 4-3-3 with no width at all.All in all I thought we just edged the first half but were a poor second in the second. And a big boo to the licensed victuallers of Nottingham who forced us to drink at Notts County(if you were lucky enough to get served). The Police escort to the ground was erm interesting.Shout of the day from DV"Bring on Perch-we need a goal!"

the police and stewards were acting like dicks for most of the day. Forest fans were shite, atmosphere was shit, game was fairly dull on the most part - we looked toothless up front and had no midfield to speak of.  :?

First half we were decent and had a few chances, Brez made a superb save. Second half Forest were much the better side. For the goal, Pook did well to win a tackle then did nothing with it, lost the ball and Tyson was clean through for a 1 on 1 with Brez... decent finish perhaps should have saved it though.

What he said although don't think Brez had much chance, well-taken goal, but he shouldn't have been allowed to get there. We were good first half but tbh looked like we could still be playing now and wouldn't have scored, although at half-time I had hopes we could nick a scruffy goal as we have done before in those kind of games. Then second half they really came out of the traps and we didn't. They weren't all that by any means, we were on top for chunks of the first half although without looking like scoring, second half was largely dull.

Good quote from Forest fan here

'You had far more than 1200 - easily 2,000. You had far more than what Swansea brought. You were very loud in the first half. Loudest all season, I'd say. Didn't really understand what you lot were saying.

I could definitely hear you lot and I was in the Brian Clough Stand.'

Yet they still had the gall to sing 'Can you hear the Swindon sing'. Baffling.

We just can't make enough chances away from home, we had a lot of possession mainly in the first half but we didn't create any chances.
JPM didn't create anything, he got the most assists in league two last season, yet he does fuck all here.

The final ball was toss all game from us.  Forest's final ball was crap for most of the game, but they got it right on a few occaisions, and capitalised once.

We are a mid table League 1 side and we played like it.

3 away wins from 16 attempts says it all.

Not shot on target for 90 minutes. We are going to need to improve our away form dramatically next year for a play off push.

Our fans er great- Forests awful like a morgue

On the whole it was a shit game, although I was fucking battered by about 1pm so can't be too sure.

I recall JPM and Pook being fucking terrible and everyone else being half-decent. The sooner that muppet McGovern drops out the better.

Where was Peacock?

A lot of the time our midfield seemed to be by passed, while McNamee tries all his fancy tricks, all well and good he was just not getting a final ball thorugh and was frustrating, Jerel & Hasney done ok, although at times when Forest pushed up there was too many to mark and our wide players forgot they was marking.

It was annoying when they scored as it was their first real attack of the 2nd half - but at times they just slipped through our midfieldd like hot knife through butter.

We possibly missed Peacock's battling qualities, but we cannot rely on one player, I think we miss strength in depth in midfield and if Peacock is out for a while then we need to get a loan to replace him.

Oh and for a crowd of 25,000 I thought it was a crap atmosphere.

I don't remember much either, it was a very shit game.

The highlight of my day was DV yelling "STAB HIM! FUCKING STAB HIM!" everytime Ashikodi got the ball.

Oh, and another thing, Sturrock nearly got through for a one on one because their fullback was playing him onside because he'd gone to fetch the pretty balloon that strayed onto the pitch. Blair didn't see it though and the ball just grazed off the top of his head into touch.

after seeing the goal from saturday on the box.
pook fucked up in the first place but there were more errors in the goal conceeded too.
aljofree got skinned to easily and brez should have done better on his near post.
a catalogue of errors imo

Probably more disappointment than apathy.  When we are at home and the score is only 1-0 you can bet whoever we play whether it's Leeds or Forest Green, will still think they are in with a shout and go hell for leather forcing us to go through agonies until the final whistle.  We simply didn't do that against Forest which irritated me as they showed against Swansea (home) they can keep at it for 90 mins.  Maybe they were still knackered from Tuesday as they looked heavy legged and slow. Peacock and Cox were badly missed.

The highlight of my day was the journey from Nottingham to Birmingham New Street  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:  and Peroni. Not necessarily on that order though.

I'd agree with all that.Though the police were keen to make sure we knew we didn't have to go in the escort  :soapy tit wank:  Did it anyway, escort tourists,it was pretty dull.

I had to laugh when the mental middle aged bloke with the missing teeth got kicked out,he was so enraged, probably cause a Forest fan waved at him or something  :soapy tit wank:

All in all a typical [for me]away day, played crap and didn't look like we would every score.Best thing was meeting Ibeliveinmrreeves, who is an ace bloke :D
