right, did anyone see different to me that justifies the red card?

from where i was sat zaaboub lost control of the ball and kind of lunged for it with one foot, missed the ball, but also got nowhere near the rovers player. yellow card, at the very worst.

presumably it'll be noted as violent conduct and he'll miss three games now.

I understand you can only appeal if there is a case of mistaken identity, but then again the FA/FIFA keep on changing their rules, so what do I know.

What was said was that Zaaboub kicked out at the guy after the ball had gone. Don't know if it's true or not

that guy in black was mistaken for a referee.

sofi was absolutely devasted to be sent off.

Zaaboubs tackle was that far away from the player than if he did get up and swing a leg at him, he still would have bloody missed.

maybe this will be the lesson for sofi that he should pass it earlier, and not get caught on the ball.

I can understand why it was given. I don't think it deserved a red card because he missed, but Zaboub can be a petulant little fucker - if he makes contact there it's a leg-breaker and therefore a red card is fair enough

Judging by the post-match interview both Nicholas and Blackburn have been injured but will be back very soon

In a funny way it also calmed a potential ruck - quick card, no brawl - as opposed to a yellow and a huge riot.

anyway, how can you or the ref judge whether he was trying to win the ball or take out the man? you can't be sure, therefore a red card for 'intent' is bullshit

As far as I could see the ref just lost it and oculd have sent anyone he fancied off when it all kicked off. Got the impression he regretted not sneding another one of ou lot off and Zaaboub gave him the chance. Not saying it was a red cos I  didn't really notice the foul but Zaaboub does do some daft things at times. Will look forward to seeing the highlights.

You could almost smell the excitement eminating from Styles as he sprinted over and dramatically thrust his red card into the face of Zaaboub, as if he really believed he was under a spotlight, centre stage. I'd love to know what he has to say for himself on his decisions today.

All I can say is that Styles needs to be reassessed as hes definitely not fit to referee based on yesterdays display.

I love the way people slate Zaboub for the red card when it should have been at the very most a yellow but no-one really mentions Ifil?  Although I think that tussle deserved a yellow for both players to calm it down, you have to look at the way Ifil conducted himself and IMO wasn't particularly professional.

Thought Cox did an excellent job of being a prick and winding up the Rovers, without actually doing anything particularly wrong. He definitely got to Phillips which was good.
