Title: 2 weeks until god himself returns
Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Friday, September 21, 2007, 18:48:17
Yes thats right the man , the myth, the legend, the future next big thing of the Premiership Aaron Brown who is too good for minnows like us will return in just over 2 weeks to a standing ovation no doubt  to thank him for his 100% efforts at the club during his fantastic 2 seasons here.

His dedication was second to none at Swindon Town and the way he treated the fans was just incredible, telling the fans they are number 1 at Barnet, there really isn't a nicer guy in the world.

I would be very dissapointed if anyone boos or abuses the charasmatic Brown

Iffy did a good job here as a player, so he should always be respect for that.

He did alright as a manager to start with, at one point we were difficult to beat but still werent winning games (sound familiar)

Then we just got worse and worse.

I still blame the board for appointing the cheap option and then selling off our only player.

The board relegated us, not Iffy!

I have no problem with Iffy, he was thrown in the deepend and did what he could. Yes most of the players he brought in were shit but so were the players he inherited.

Worked much better with the mighty Alan Reeves

Shame I'm missing the Gills game, will have to make sure I go to the away game! I don't see why people give Iffy a hard time. He had no real managerial experience and was thrown into the deepest of deep ends. The fact that we were stood at Ashton Gate chanting his name after being relegated says it all - it wasn't his fault, no matter how good or bad a manager he is

Iffy wasn't a great manager for us, but he was a true gent and a breath of fresh air after that cigar chomping tosser Andy King.  The Gills fan gave Iffy an ovation when he went to Priestfield as our manager, and I hope we'll do the same.

Brown is a twat, who was lazy and in very little effort (other than city away), but will probably pull a superb performance out against us.

Iffy got a good reception when he was a player, and for his playing days he deserved it.
For his managing 'career' nothing but abuse.I cannot forgive what he did to us when we went down. Admittedly he should never have been given the job (why sack King and replace him with somebody worse?), but that team wasn't bad enough to go down. And his post match ritual of 'taking the positive' after yet another defeat  . I still honestly believe King wouldn;t have taken us down - but that is in the past. The fact that they would have given Onuora another season?! We would be conference right now

"wasn't bad enough to go down"

true, we just weren't good enough to stay up.

the team were shit, iffy had no money and was forced to rely on a succession of loan players, some of whom were excellent - hammertime, heaton - and some of whom were dogshit - heath, mikolanda.

Title: 2 weeks until god himself returns
Post by: herthab on Thursday, October 4, 2007, 07:23:17
There's a lot of lower league players who would jump at the chance of managing a club. It wasn't Iffy's fault that he wasn't ready for it the board appoint the managers and they fucked up.

We weren't too good to go down, we were fucking absymal for most of that season.

Iffy won't get any abuse off me and I'll be surprised if he gets much off anyone else.

Remember Ashton Gate when we were relegated? Iffy came over to us and applauded, he never hid. For that he's got my respect.

The squad was shite. How the fuck they thought Colin Heath was decent i will never know. Nanny McPhee was a quality striker too, hes a 20 goals a season man.
At some points we did look difficult to beat and when we stuffed Bournemouth I thought we might turn it around. I still think its down to King, Iffy couldnt help what he inherited. He didnt like Tony Thorpe either, but then again no cunt did.  8)
