Title: Ron Greenwood dies Post by: Bedford Red on Thursday, February 9, 2006, 20:49:55 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/4697120.stm
Story gives his details for the younger people on here who won't know his history etc. Although the 78 world cup was the first one I watched, the 82 one was the first one I remember properly. We played 5 games and were unbeaten, but got knocked out in the 2nd group stages, two 0-0 matches did for us, shame Keegan wasn't fit. Also featured one of the best games I've ever seen, Italy v Brazil in the 2nd group stages again, Italy winning 3-2 with a Paolo Rossi hat-trick. Anyway, RIP Ron. Greenwood was unfortunate in 82, because both Brooking and Keegan were injured, but any England manager is going to have injured players. Rossi was so sharp for Italy as he'd only just got out of jail after some corruption rap.
