Surely can't be anything other than a positive when local businesses want to get involved.  The question is what impact will they have if any?

good move by mazda - its two fingers up to rivals Honda, especially after their plainly ridiculous "isn't Swindon wonderful" advertising campaign when they couldn't give a toss about the local footy team.

Wouldn't think it's a huge financial deal, probably cuts down on finances being spent by the club more than anything as I'm sure that they would provide company cars for the Manager and coaches if required.

A Mazda dealership used to do this back in the 80's for the club.  Maybe a few local businesses are seeing something behind the scenes that is encouraging them to get involved again.  There are one or two others that have previously had their fingers burnt who are coming back into the fold as well.

I expect it will be peanuts. But its good we are looking else where esp as Nationwide has pulled most of its football sponsorship....

Its a good time to start sponsering Town.  It should get mentioned on the Sky One Programme.

Does that mean they are going to be the second shirt/short sponsor then? It's about time we got one as even teams in the Conference have managed to find two sponsors.

Sticks in the mind as they gave it to the player of the month and one of the players couldn't drive.

Was going to be called Big Ron Manager but then Iffy got (rightly) annoyed that the TV co were pitching it like the King of Bling was going to be coming and in doing the management and he (Iffy) was just going to be following behind, gratefully lapping up the great man's wisdom. So, now they don't have a title AFAIK. Maybe we could think one up for them - given the Gordon Ramsay references they all keep making, maybe "Hell's Bootroom"? Or "Newbury Love Island"? Or possibly "I'm an indifferent footballer on loan, get me out of here"?

I don't think mazda has sponsored the club just iffy. Some moron on thisis thinks we're now changing our shirt sponsorship to mazda.  :-))(

My reading of it was that Motorworld is something to do with the Co-Op.....maybe they want to shift a few cars.

  The Co-Op has been a good friend of the club for some years now recognising its place in the community....bit like the Co-Op.

 The Old Town branch has a fine display of STFC merchandise....now a bit depleted by the festive rush.

 Presumably they'll have to write Iffy's name on the side....to stop him getting pulled over by OB every 5 mins on a sus rap.

 It'll last 5 mins, seeing as how Iffy lives in Bristhole.

I remember the Mazda thing in the 80's. I'm sure they had a back page advert on the programme for at least one season.

Wankel....do Mazda still use them.

  I recall that one.. think the showroom was along Groundwell Road near Queen's Park.

   Its closed now, so will become flats no doubt.
