Title: Tribute to Alan Reeves' playing career
Post by: Reeves for King on Thursday, January 12, 2006, 17:48:08
I have to say I am am sorry that we will never hear 'REEEEEEEEEEEEVES' uttered again to salute one of Reeves' famous hoofs out of the stadium. This is a sad time for football.

I feel duty bound to make this post about the greatness of Reeves and his fantastic style of play.

An illustrious playing career has come to an end....lets hope for an illustrious managerial one.

One of my favourite Reeves moments was against Chesterfield when his brother got sent off or substituted and the town end sang 'where's yer brother gone?!'

Always thought he was shaky as a defender when he first came here but matured as a pro and also his sheer amount of appearances ensures him legend status, until o'hanlon gets transferred.

Think he'll get a testimonial? Considering no one has been with the club for THAT long in  ages I'd say he deserves one.

If you replace all the words in our national anthem with Reeves then it would go something like this..

Reeves Reeves Reeves Reeeeves Reeves Reeves,
Reeves Reeves Reeves Reeeeves Reeves Reeves,
Reeves Reeves Reeves Reeves,
(reeves reeves reeves reeves reeves)
Reeves Reeves Reeves Reeeeeves Reeves Reeves,
Reeves Reeves Reeves Reeeeves Reeves Reeves,
Reeves Reeves-Reeves-Reeves Reeeeves Reeves Reeves,
Reeeves Reeeves Reeeves Reeeves.

I remember the first time I saw Reeves. It was against Stockport County. His first touch of the ball, the first time I ever saw him touch it, he slammed the ball into the metal Girders at the top of the Arkells. :D  :D

What an absolute legend.

It is sorrowful that we will never see the Reeves magic gracing the County Ground again, so we must say thank you for all that he has brought to Swindon Town's on-field activities.

I will have a pint (or 4) for Reeves tomorrow.

swindon XI (current and old, iffy, woan, etc.) VS Wimbledon XI (current AFCW and old players, fash, jones, any of  the old crazy gang they can get)

sounds great

gotta have woan, iffy, reeves, digby and any town players to have played with reevesie in the area....maybe even get the don to get his boots on to attract a crowd :beers:

yea, either a swindon select vs crazy gang select, or current town team vs AFC.
