I thought that was the 1 series. Either that or the m5, but that was a while ago. Can't remember the M3 being slated? Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think I get much more than that in a 1.2..... :? Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Leggett on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 05:52:07 walrus son, your 1.2 is a very very sick puppy if it aint getting much more than that! my 1.2i nova was pushing 35/40ish to the gallon.... i even got 40mpg out of my 1.8 16v arsetra once!
Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: DMR on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 11:07:06 I get 50+ mpg because I'm ace.
Unless I'm razzing it (which is often). Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 12:01:14 I tend to travel less far the more gallons I drink.
Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 17:46:16 A 330 Ci has a big 3 litre 6 cylinder engine.
I wouldn't expect much better than 20-25 mpg even when cruising in top gear. I will check in my magazines. Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 17:49:08 The BMW 130 M Sport was slated on Top Gear but thats only cause Clarkson hates BMW and loves Golf's :-))(
The 328 is the old range topper in the 3 series range (apart from the M3) It had a 2.8 litre 6 cylinder engine with slightly less power than the 330 I'd imagine MPG would be the same roughly. He did have a point though Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 18:08:18 No he didn't, the 130 has a truely fantastic engine.
It's the brand new 3 litre valvetronic engine with 265 bhp. The car's chasis is also fantastic, the only let down is looks but thats just personal opinion. Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 18:09:17 It wasn't that he slated though was it? He was saying that you had to pay too much for so little and all the optional extras were a con
Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 18:19:33 130 is £24k new
Golf R32 is £24k new It's only when you start adding options the prices goes up Their both the same Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 18:24:13 With extras Golf is £27k, BMW is £31k.
Clarkson never slated the engine either. Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 19:06:25 don't recall anything being mentioned about the engine.
got the m3 confused with that. from what i remember, clarkson slated it on the basis the bmw costs more or less the same basic but you have to pay for every tiny little extra, which makes it far more expensive than the golf. and it looked wank. Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 19:10:19 Yes youth that is correct. If anybody would like to see the clip again you can download it from here:

Ultra smooth, powerful and sound great. Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Bob's Orange on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 19:30:33 Ralphy, I have another car related question.
I have a rattle from under my car which I am 99% certain is the heatshield. Apparently this is a known problem on the Focus ST170's. If I rip the thing off the car, is this likely to cause any future grief? Seemingly the heatshield is quite pointless! Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 19:48:16 Probally is the heatshield your right.
I had this same problem on my old Type R. Be best to take your car to the dealer and they can tighten the bolts on the heatshield to stop it vibrating. Title: Ralph - car help please Post by: Leggett on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, 21:28:58 the 1-series looks like a midgets hurse. even my nearly-4yr old nephew doesnt like them.
fair enough, they're probably enginerred to perfection, i would say they're ovr-engineered, i like a bit of character to my cars, i dont want one thats exactly the same as the car owned by matey-boy down the street... exclusivity is (partially) the name of the game! |
