Title: Lukas Jutkiewicz
Post by: DV on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, 11:23:22
upfront on Monday?

He seems to be scoreing and earning rave reviews at youth level.

We needs goals and he sounds like someone who knows where the goal is, is it time to take a gamble on him?

Plus, think of the extra income on shirt printing!!

Miko didnt look up to much and again, isnt our player and could possible be going back at the end of the month.

We need someone else to chip in with goals, we cant soley rely on Rory Fallon...

I though for a big guy he has a deft first touch, him and fallon unusually for two big guys didn't go for the same ball all the time, and if he'd have score either or both chances on saturday people would be raving abour how good he is.

Yes we probably would be,but the problem is he didn't score and we drew a game we needed to win.

But it was Blackpool, footballing destiny determined a draw, 8 in a row, and something like 10 out of the last 12 have been drawn, so however good we were we simply were never going to win the match, FACT.

Our main problems are in midfield, not up front.

Id say we have more problems in defence than upfront also, but we dont have people in the reserves/youths getting heaps of praise every week in those positions.

Holgate was alright, pushed off the ball too easy though, which was expected he will get more used to it which time and expirence.

only seen jutkiewicz the once and he was impressive, not sure whether throwing him in at the deep end for his first team debut is entirely wise. put him on the bench and bring him on towards the end of a game and see how he does.

asher, what have you seen in mikolanda that i haven't? i thought he looked awful.

Post by: DV on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, 16:33:03
Nah, I disagree throw him in at the deep end.

He sounds (im only going on what ive read) very good, seems pointless to bring him on towards the end of a game that is already going a certain way. Take Saturday we brought on Holgate fair enough, its some expirence but the game had already been shit for so long it was always going to stay shit. We were awful out of confidence and our heads were down before he came onto the pitch, he was never going to make much of an impact.

Starting Lukas might just have an impact, it would surprise people for starters and hopefully he'd be fucking up for it & no one would know anything about him.

Let Lukas Loose!!

I'd get Whalley involved I think, before the injury he just seemed to be getting there, I thought him and migzy ran the game at vale though.

well in my capacity as joint manager of southbrook on a sunday I have learned to see things that others dont (such as bring off players who are playing well and bring on myself to play shit) I saw his touch at rotherham and his awareness, honestly just watch and I wont say told you so

True ash, he has a 'good football brain'TM, seems aware and for a big guy showed a deft touch on saturday.

he has a decent touch and can use the ball at his feet but his control on saturday was terrible. however, it was better against rotherham and oldham so i'll give him credit for that.

The Czechs have the Czech Republic and the Slovaks have Slovakia.

Never a mention of the poor old O's - what about them.

Will someone please take pity on the O's :(

That's an awful lot of pressure to heap on a 16 year old DV!

draycott was a goal machine for the youths and reserves as well.

We can wait until 1 January to get another goalscorer back can't we? Depends how Iffy uses him.

I've seen Lukas a bit in the reserves and other odd games, and he has a lot of potential, but is still very raw.

Also he's huge and probably still hasn't stopped growing.....probably no reason why he can't have the odd bit of bench warming this year and the odd 10 minutes, probably towards the end of the season.....but will need to be nurtured.

Well we've put the pressure on Roberts, Cureton, Thorpe, Mikolanda, Bouazza etc and they havent delivered. We've used a million loan players and still dont have what Id call a 2nd goal scorer. Fallon has what 9? in the league, next league top scorer being Roberts with 3? That isnt enough, esp. because we dont do clean sheets very often.

Its alot of pressure, but we are at a stage where we need to gamble some what. I the ideal world Cureton would come back and start banging them in, but if he doesnt then where else shall we look for goals?

He could be awful, and go the way of Draycott, but he cant do much worse than Cureton, Thorpe, Mikolanda, Bouazza etc who have 2 league goals between them.

Only one way to find out if he is up to the challenge. How many of us would have gambled on David Stroud against top of the league Huddersfield this season?

I don't think Draycott ever cracked the reserves.  I'm sure he made a couple of outings but part of the reason he jumped ship was due to not cutting the mustard and unable to make the step up from youth to reserve team football.

I must admit if we do go down it is one area to remain opromistic about.  Caton, Jutkiewicz, Fallon (relegation release clause pending), Roberts (contract pending) and young Shakes who has bagged a few as a striker himself at that level.

Personally, I think Mikolanda looks half decent. As someone else said he displayed some decent touches for a big fella, and didnt get in Rorys way

Yes, he should have scored 2, but deserves another chance in my view. all strikers are capable of missing easy chances, even SSP missed some sitters in his time here.
