how the fuck was he not sent off today.

1 elbowing lauren
2 taking out van persie
3 take your pick

he must have a very satisfying manner in bed to make sure he doesn't get sent off even when he fucking takes people out at knee height or just plain assualt-ben haim, hamann.

I thought Senderos' challange on Robben was worthy of a straight red. 2 footed tackle from behind....Last man. Yellow card  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: what a joke. Essien should have gone when he kicked Van Persie.

When does that rule about only having 5 foriegners in your squad come into effect? The likes of Chelski and Arsenal will be screwed.

probably stayed on as Chelsea bribed the ref ... and Senderos challenge wasnt 2 footed .. might have been a foul but NOT two footed .. wasnt last man either Lauren was covering .. yellow was correct!

But the goal Van Persie scored SHUD have counted

Chelsea wont be screwed they will just buy the best English players at that stage when it happens

Yeh Van Persie's goal was, well, a goal. Nothing wrong with that. My mistake about Senderos. I didn't watch the game I watched the highlights on MOTD2 and I didn't notice Lauren Covering. probably due to the fact I was falling asleep watching it. Some referee's would have sent him off for that though.

You're right about Chelsea aswell! They'll just go out and spend spend spend.

i support arsenal aswell  (yes i know, but i'm very passionate so i can spread my love, similar to have everyone spreads their physical love over leggets ma) and i have to say,...yes envious of the money and all that, and i know we have some pricks (pires!, reyes, pires) but i honestly wouldn't have any of the chelsea team on the arsenal side. they're just obnoxious! there's a certain level of arrogance and i think pires apitamises that for arsenal but the rest seem pretty down to earth....where as chelsea can be decribed as cunts

Essien didn't deserve to be sent off yesterday, against Liverpool he did. I was very happy to see Arsenal lose again. 8th :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: Arsenals players are much bigger twats than Chelsea's. I like Wright-Phillips, Terry, Joe Cole and Lampard, good English players. Robben and Duff can be great to watch too. Pires and Henry though are beret wearing, dirty french bastards and Wenger is a total twat.

How was he interfering?, the rules state that if he touches the ball the flag should then be put up as he is interfering with play, he didnt touch the ball it went to Van Persie who wasnt offside.

Sour grapes from Wenger, to be fair Chelsea deserved the win, for large periods of the game they were in complete control.

Wenger is easily the most annoying manager in my opinion, he just moans about everything, threatens to sue people for light-hearted comments. He's the Gary Stanley of premiership management in that respect.

Sure Henry is one of the best players in the premiership but he's French which is why he's dirty rather than playing dirty.

Most of the players I like in the premiership are English.

Rooney, Lampard, Crouchy, Terry, Defoe, Joe Cole, Gerrard, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ledley King, Wayne Bridge, Nolan, Owen. Ashley Cole is ok, shame he plays for Arsenal.

where do the rules say that then spuddy, cos i'm a qualified ref and i don't remember seeing that anywhere.

don't believe all the shit the pundits on sky come out with, i was getting angry at the tv with all of the factually incorrect stuff they were saying. remember that thing about there having to be 'air' on offside decisions? that was made up by andy gray and everyone took it as gospel - turns out its not remotely true. gray is the worst, he makes the ref's job much harder with all the mixed messages he gives fans.

it was offside. henry was pulling defenders away from van persie (?), like i said if you watch makelele he moves away from the scorer due to henrys presence, therefore henry is interfering with play.

being offside is a matter of fact - you're either in an offside position or not.

interfering is where subjectivity comes into it.

Yeah, i guess i didn't make that very clear. I was meaning that, you could argue, that any player who is offside is interfering with play indirectly i.e. pulling players away from the attacking player with the ball. Is their anything about this in teh rules?

I quite like Essien to be honest, tough but talented. The first challenge on Van Persie was nothing, Van Persie is doing exactly the same to him, just Essien is stronger. Not a booking.

For the elbowing a booking was a bit harsh, Lauren was making the most of it and the kick on Van Persie was nothing, he barely touched him. Van Persie is just a diving twat exaggerating the faintest touch.

To be honest Arsenal were lucky not to give away a penalty at the start when Drogba took it round the keeper and was fouled. Then senderos was pulling his shirt again to stop him being clean through on goal, which should've been a booking and Senderos's other foul which he was booked for was at least a booking so Rob Styles should've senthimoff definitely.

Take off those Spurs coloured glasses ffs!, Essien swung his elbow out at Lauren and whether he hit him or not is a different matter, the intent was there and the cunt should have been booked.

Even a bloke at work who doesnt follow Arsenal or Chelsea said Essien should have went.

The impression they give on the 'interpretation' side of the rule is ridiculous.  If Henry had raised his hand and walked away he wouldn't have been interferring, but as soon as he ran at goal he was getting involved to me?

Mind you I've seen more contentious ones given, Fifa seem to keep changing the rules at the highest level from what you hear.

thats supposed to be the point of the interfering bit.

if henry was down in the opposite corner when the pass was played, fine, no offside. but the reason i would say it was offside is because if henry had not been there, and thus makelele not run forward to play him offside, makkers would have been covering the space where van persie got the ball and scored. i think thats pretty direct involvement.

as it says in the rules, if he's in an offisde position and doing one of these:

1. interfering with play
2. interfering with opposition player
3. gaining an advantage by being in that position

then its a free-kick.

Title: micheal essien
Post by: DV on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, 19:41:02
at first I thought it should have counted, but now thinking about it Oxford Fan is right.

The fact Henry was running towards the ball/box/goal means he was part of play. Even if he gets no where near the ball the defence still have to aware of where he is.

If he had his hands up and was walking in the opposite direction then the defenders and officials know he isnt going towards the ball to get involved with play

To be honest the challenge on Essien was nastier than most of Essien's easily. Now it seems he'll be out for the African nations cup which is a real shame, my Ghanian mate will be gutted. He's not that dirty a player, the one in the champions league against Liverpool was the only one that should've been a sending off and he certainly doesn't deserve this.

Ok so two bad challenges, I remember seeing Cantona stamping on John Moncur, he was still a great player. Shearer is a really dirty player but no-one seems to care.

It's the Prmiershit...they seem to feel obliged to contest every single decision a referee makes. Pisses me off, especially when its as ridiculous as that!
