Nope, as a profesional footballer, he has an obligation to himself and the paying public to follow a proper nutrition and fitness routine.  Iffy have aword with the lad, tell him he is on the slippery slope to Supermarine's subs bench..

Bull shit.

He has a life out of football and is a young lad if you think hes going to stay in Saturday night then your deluded. Its not as if he has to worry about driving anywhere for a while.

If you people had your way we'd have a team full of Robots. Its unrealsistic to think that people arent going to have social lives away from football. Not everyones Alan Bloody Shearer or DV85 :D ( )

Pook's general attitude leaves a lot to be desired, it's not just the the drinking (which isn't that bad... time & place etc etc)

I'm not angry. Disillusioned.

No harm in having a social life.  You can have a full social life without getting intoxicated.  If you are serious about getting to the top you have to make sacrifices.

Why should I be interested in a team in which players are showing such poor judgement and lack of ambition.  Alan Shearer, like Lou Macari, and Peter Eastoe, made the right choices.

Jimmy Greaves was my hero as a young kid.  I saw him score a hatrick for West Ham, he was fat, could hardly run, and on his way out, but what supreme ball skill in ankle deep mud at St. Andrews.  His social life cost him a place in history.

:D

Merson,Gazza, Adams all played top flight and were drunks.

Ok they fucked up a bit in the end :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:  but letting your hair down 6 days before your next game and 2/3 before your next training session is hardly the end of the world.

Again I wish I couldl spell sanctamonious...

Getting pissed is part of British  working class culture whether you like it or not and footballers are working class ladswith a few extra quid.

Its not the drinking that bothers me so much, for the fact they dont seem to fucking care

Honestly, If I played for Swindon and I played as fucking awful as that lot yesterday I would have spent Saturday night thinking about the game, what I did wrong what I could of done better

Hell, I am not even a player and I end up thinking like that every saturday night. I think if I were as piss poor as Pook was Saturday I would have cried myself to sleep last night.

Pisses me off, I get home from (insert dirty northern shit hole thats miles away) go out with my mates, im in a club being a miserable cunt because I've seen my team play shit, but no wait....there is half the team next to me, they seem pretty happy, they are laughing their joking...enjoying themselves, yet its me left thinking about the shit performance.

However, I dont see how the drinking is good for their health, in which they need to play football

Conclusion, I've gone off on a rant. I wish the players cared as much as I do. I care too much, its not healthy

Maybe that was a bit over the top AND I DONT ACTUALLY DO IT, but I'd like to think the players cared as much as we do, I really do

I reckon they should get paid on results

10% of wage for defeat
50% of wage for draw
100% of wage for win

Then we might see some fucking passion

That's what win bonuses are supposed to be about. But if you're not sure whether you're going to get paid your basic, whether or not you also won't get paid a win bonus probably becomes fairly academic ;-) Seriously, I've been as p***ed off as anyone at the lack of heart shown by some of the players this season, but I don't know that it's down to not caring so much as a lack of mental toughness - they give up too easy. And given that a lot of them are quite young, without enough  older heads to lift them when it gets tough (which is/was always one of the best things about Reeeeeves), it's easy to see how the depression of this season can lead to an attitude of "We're never going to get out of this". Plus we've got many also-ran loanees. There's no spine to the team, basically, and no heart, so we've got a collection of individuals who may all (well mostly) do OK if put in a team that is functioning as such with some belief and commitment but who are completely bloody lost floundering in uncertainty and misery in this outfit. And I don't see anyway out of it I'm afraid - that's what happens when you gut your side over the summer and replace the core of the side with mainly kids and loan signings and a couple of "star signings" who turn out to be real duffers. Whatever we may have thought of those who left over the summer - and there were few (SSP apart, natch) I was sad to see go - they were at least a team. Not a dysfunctional collection of individuals giving it the "rabbit in headlights" act every other week.

I thought getting stupidly drunk at my xmas party last night might have blanked the whole day out.  Sadly I remember the 0-0 quite clearly but have completely forgotton how I ended up with loads of £20 notes in my wallett.  I think I may have settled the bill on a credit card!

Nope, the stripper didn't turn up so you bravely volunteered to don the tassles so as not to let your work colleagues down. One quick waxing in the bogs later and you were shimmying up and down that pole like a seasoned "pro", as your workmates stuffed notes in your pants and bra. You looking forward to going into work tomorrow?

I also discovered, mid meal, that I don't like Cointreau, not one little bit.  In fact I've never had to run to a toilet so fast.  It's good to know that I was still able to carry on drinking for a further 5 hours though before getting my wife out of bed at 3am to get me from the Magic Roundabout (or so she says).

If I was the manager Pook would have been subbed straight after shooting when he had about 3 people unmarked in the box to pass too. He's been guilty of that more than once and until he learns he shouldn't be playing.

Saturday was fucking pathetic.  How we drew (and luckily drew) against that shit from up north is an disgrace.  We need to get rid of these loan players that don't give a shit, then least the permanent lot may actually feel like their playing for their futures.

The whole fucking lot of them bring shame to our club.  I'd rather just play all the kids from the reserves then watch that lot from Saturday for the rest of the season.

It was like watching an Andy King team on Saturday.

I agree with that, people are saying how Blackpool wouldnt have deserved the win but to be fair Evans made a great save and they had in my view a perfectly good goal ruled out!.

If we had been playing a half decent side Staurday we would have got battered. :(

I was surprised by some of the stuff I've read today, Adver etc.  Blackpool hit the woodwork twice, a goal disallowed.  Like you say thank God we weren't playing a semi decent side.  Our best chance in the second half came when one of their midfielder missed the ball when he went to pass.

Saturday was the low point of the season for me, gutted how we couldn't beat such a poor side.  Then it dawned on me that we are just as bad.

Nicho and Evans aside I'd shoot the lot of them.

That's true Shakes kept getting in good positions and tried to do the right things, if his crosses are poor ir's cos he's not good enough, I don't mind that because at least he made the effort to be in the right place.  IMHO Holgate looked OK, best I've seen him, he needs to bulk up a bit though, again at least he looked like he was trying.

I've got a programme from 1958 of a game against, I think a Dutch team SSV Reutlingen...it was played Dec 27th we won 3-0 in front of 9000+

Back then games were played on Christmas Day when we drew at Brentford, played them at the CG on Boxing Day in front of 12000.....then the friendly...think it was all part of bert Heads plan to get them fitter and off the beer.

I liked the dogs, but they didn't really get a decent runout.

Are they out on loan doing the business elsewhere?

The dog on the right scares me a little. I think it's because i can see the whites of his eyes.

Yep, Shakes in decent cross shocker... :o

He's improving, id certainly give him a go Saturday.

I'm glad you pointed out there is a game on Sat....I wasn't going until Monday.

blah, force of habbit....

Anyway, id have the first team playing the reserves on saturday  :D show them last saturday wasnt acceptable....

Bert was hard but fair.  He would have thrown the furniture at this lot.
