They are basically rubbish things that flollop about in the sea not doing much until they are attacked at which point they (obviously) flee their assailant. Sadly, being rubbish, they can't flee very quickly so in order to confuse/repel their pursuers they self-eviscerate - which basically means they auto-eject their bowels! Whatever was trying to eat them is then either distracted by the free food and stops to eat the bowels or so disgusted by the whole experience it loses its appetite. Meanwhile our hero retreats behind a rock or something to recuperate and after bit grows new internals, leaving it free to continue being rubbish. Beat that, otters!

I don't think anyone has a clue what he's meant to be, but I do know why he's tangerine. It's because - like me - he's a Dundee United fan.
