Title: Isn't it funny...
Post by: swindonrobin on Monday, December 5, 2005, 22:37:21
how almost every player who ditches Swindon for a 'better club' ends up worse off? :P Smith and his non-existence at Bristol, everyone in Ipswich hates Super Sam and he's broken his ankle, Howard broke his foot before the season, and everyone else, well, where are they eh? :D They all think they can do better.... 8)

To be fair tho, I don't understand why they don't like Parkin in Ipswich :? He's saved them some valuable match points and they always boo him off the pitch the buggers. Meh if they really don't want him over there then he can always just come back again

Who was the last player who moved on to a ‘better club’ and succeeded?

I was going to say Heywood for a second, but then looked at the table.    :o

Horlock was the funniest, Man City went down. Then of course he went on to play premiership football, but still.

James Milner's playing quite a bit in the premiership if you're including loanees.

not including loanees, Sol Davis is that last to make it bigger than Swindon - Parkin should be the next, but is having really bad luck at the moment (I hope we included a first refusal on resale in the contract)

Danny Invincible,  Is SPL bigger than League 2?

Sammy Igoe, if he plays?

Sammy Igoe hasn't emerged since he left us has he? :P

Invincibile is doing pretty well and yeah I'd say the SPL was a little bigger than this league

Howard seems to be quite a favourite at Barnsley, so hes sorted himself out.

Fair play to Invincible, I thought he was the wild horse that would never be tamed into a proper pro footballer. But he's started consistantly for Kilmarnock so he's done pretty good. Kilmarnock as a club are simmilar stature to a league 2 outfit.

Igoe has been on the bench at Millwall recently.

You can't count loan players here....as they're not your players.

A lot have left us and done allright for themselves financially if not in a playing fashion....Thorne would be like that....he left us in second tier, got relegated with Stoke and spent several there with them and then Cardiff.

Sol Davis likewise got relegated with Luton, before a copuple of promotions.

Probably the last man to do good out of his move was Colin Calderwood, who played loads for Spurs in the Prem and went to the WC of 98, where he marked Ronaldo out of the game.

I'm pretty glad King's gone now :D Iffy seems to have the right mind set about things and hopefully he won't bring back any more of our past players *cough* gurney *cough* :D
