Title: Weekend for dying.....
Post by: Northern Red on Monday, November 28, 2005, 11:14:35
in addition to George Best and more sadly Mr Miyagi, Richard Burns has died from a brain tumour:

He was only 34 and still in the prime of life - far more tragic than George Best - As a world champion in his sport, I'll be expecting  far more media coverage than that alcy waster Best.

Tributes......

Yeah beacuse Richard Burns has really inspired a generation hasn't he?  For all his faults Best was a footballing genius.

As for Burns, I agree it's a very sad, all fit and healthy, world champion, then diagnosed with a tumour, a couple of years later - he'dead.  And at 34!!!  Flipping scarey stuff that.

Burns dying truely is tragic, due to the nature of his demise.

Richard Burns is more of a hero to me than Best ever will be.

Was very surprised when I heard about Richard Burns, didn't even know he'd been ill. A sad loss at such a young age.

Ditto that Sussex.

Lets put this into perspective Janaage. Best was a 'good' footballer for a short period of time. He was a 'celebrity' for a long period of time due to his 'hell-raising'. I was disappointed that Sky showed so much faith in him, as, to be honest, he wasn't much of a pundit. He was a wifebeater and alcoholic. In life he wasn't an inspiration to anyone other than a generation of pissheads !

George Best was a great footballer who entertained millions and that should not be forgotten. But it should also not be forgotten what a complete cunt he was. A dirty Irish, wife beating, drunken thug who abused a liver that could have gone to someone more worthy. Respect for his talents as a footballer but that is all.

Not once in the last week or so have I said anything about Best being anything else but a "footballing legend".  His private life was a shambles to say the least.

That won't stop me from feeling sorry for him or his family.  If Alex Best could show compassion (after all the stick he gave her) at the end then so can anyone else who chooses to do so.

To call Best a "good footballer" is just stupid, you've kind of defeated your own arguement there by writing that.

fucking hell i can't believe people are arguing over who is more of a legend, don't you people have work to do?

34 is such a young age to die, it's a cruel world.
