Apparently some grounds around the country didn't respect the minutes silence today....

What ever anyone thinks of their club, football as a whole has lost a legend.

Wolves had a minutes clapping.

I thought that was a nice touch.

I think that a minutes clapping is much better than a silence, plus it drowns out any morons shouting stuff.

They had 'There's only one George best..' ringing around the ground aswell. I think he would've loved that.

There was a minutes silence at Motherwell today impeccably observed despite my concerns because he used to play for Hibs.

I thought the clapping was fantastic for someone like George Best, a true entertainer and enriched British football so much. Best didnt exactly die young either, for his troubles George always said he had enjoyed his life and lived it his way. Thats what winds me up when others pass judgement on him off the pitch - what harm did he do to you?!!

Something like the Munich disaster is minutes silence worthy. Or young Marc Vivien Foe's death. George Bests death was not a tragedy, it was the final chapter of a wonderful man.

As much as i dislike the way he wasted a Liver on the NHS he didnt go around smashing people up, he went down the local boozer and had a good time.

He seemed ok yeah, lived life to the full and even said a few weeks back on Talksport that he wouldnt have gone back and lived his life any differently.

I heard that one fella, in the car on the way to Town for a match I think. Rod Marsh was singing his praises.

As a sidenote its time Marsh was got back on Sky, he was treated very harsh IMO.

That was proper hillarious. Didnt he promise in the summer that he would walk about Wigan town centre in a board saying 'I am an idiot' if they sold out 4 times or more in a season? The rage he got off the Latics was great viewing, a lot better than talking about all the formation shite they have on the footy phone in's nowadays.  Still sticks out in the Strait of Dover betwen Hastings and Folkestone, last time looked, but may have been inundated as a consequence of global warming.

 The original 606 with Danny Baker was classic...he had a particular disdain for Hoddle as a Millwall fan...his rant used to be that Hoddle's Swindon didn't just want to beat you, but they wanted to humiliate you. Music  to the ears.

Even I remember Bakers 606 chat, very funny. My dad always moans at the ones on 606 nowadays.

And as for the George Best silence thing - Scousers are a bunch of tossers. Whenever they have their own little tragedies and someone doesn't respect it they get pissy...fuckin hypocrites.

Danny Baker liked the sound of his own voice a bit too much. But he was at least proper football.

Who did 6-0-6 before Mellor? Or was his the original show? He used to get a lot of stick. I remmember one Chelsea fan calling Mellor 'a fucking twat' before being cut off.
