Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: Whits on Friday, November 18, 2005, 13:05:08 could be back for tomorrow, surely a better bet than bulman
http://www.thisisstfc.co.uk/news_headlines_Story.asp?NewsID=4988 Quote RHYS Evans is poised to put his injury woes behind him and earn a first start in almost three months at Port Vale tomorrow. The 23-year-old trained ‘pain free’ yesterday and should Iffy Onuora ask him to step into the breach then it looks likely that the former England under 21 international will accept the challenge. Tom Heaton’s suspension has coincided with a significant upturn in Evans’ fitness fortunes after more than three months of treatment table torture. Evans played through the pain in the first four matches of the campaign but in a bid to have his knee problem dealt with, dropped out of the picture after the goalless draw at Blackpool on August 20. It has been stop-start on the road to recovery since but after a spell at the FA rehabilitation centre at Lilleshall and a cortisone steroid injection into the knee, Evans feels good. Perhaps significantly, he kicked a ball without pain for the first time yesterday and is feeling positive in both body and mind. Not that he is taking anything for granted as he knows Matt Bulman will be keen to build on his first taste of senior action. He said: “I had the injection in the knee at the end of last week and although there was some discomfort in the couple of days afterwards, it has felt much, much better and I’ve trained with the youth team a couple of times this week. “I kicked a ball for the first time since the Lilleshall visit yesterday and there was no pain. I’m also sleeping without real discomfort as well. “We’ll see if there’s any reaction on Friday but to be honest with all the work I’ve been doing, I’ve never felt fitter and stronger. I feel really sharp. “Obviously I haven’t played matches but I guess it’s the manager’s call isn’t it? Bully did well and will obviously want to play as well. “There’s an element of risk in these situations. You’ve just got to be honest with yourself and be straight with other people when they ask.” Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: le god cuervo on Friday, November 18, 2005, 13:11:16 i really hope he starts! even if he can't kick properly thats fine, just get someone else to take goal kicks. pass backs don't matter coz he was never good at them anyway.
bulman is cack! would rather get digby out of retirement than have him play. Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: SwindonFan on Friday, November 18, 2005, 13:27:42 isnt it strange that as soon as Heaton isnt available Rhys is fit again?? id put my balls on it that if Heaton was fit Rhys wudnt be on the bench at Port Vale he'd been injured still

It is like watching something out of a Mike Bassett team. Hope to see Evans back, He is a good keeper and in any c ase better than Bulman Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: walrus on Friday, November 18, 2005, 14:18:31 Bulman is not crap. He has the makings of a very good 'keeper. Vs. Crawley in the preseason he made an absolute howler (which was disallowed) and an absolute peach of a save, probably the best save I have ever seen live! I don't think he's ready for First Team football but he's certainly got potential.
Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: Sippo on Friday, November 18, 2005, 14:20:45 I just hope Rhys doesn't do himself any harm which will put him put of action again.
Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: le god cuervo on Friday, November 18, 2005, 14:44:20 bulman makes so many mistakes it is unbelieveable! he's worse than higuita & barthez put together when it comes to 'playing sweeper'. always too eager to rush out of goal.
he may well deserve his chance as much as pook, holgate, wells etc, and they are all bound to make mistakes while they are learning, but unfortunatly for him, as a goalkeeper, they get noticed more. bulman & ifil at the back is asking for trouble at port vale Title: Re: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: PHIL!!!! on Friday, November 18, 2005, 14:48:27 Its really strange how suddenly hes gone from not bein able to kick a ball, to playin again. Just a couple of weeks ago he was sayin that he had only just come out of rehab.
Oh well, im glad to see him comin back to action :) RHYS, RHYS, RHYS EVANS!!!! If he makes a mistake which costs us points it could be very damaging for the team, and an absolute killer for his confidence. If Evans is fit he should play. Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: reeves4england on Friday, November 18, 2005, 16:30:08 Bulman looked crap against Chippenham. CHIPPENHAM! They showed him up and put 3 past him in 90 minutes, 2 of which were his own fault.
CHIPPENHAM! Title: rhys rhys rhys evans Post by: Johno on Friday, November 18, 2005, 19:03:52 bulman is a bit cack really though. im all for giving him a chance, but, no thanks at the moment!

The radio here in Chavston are actually saying he kept you in the game. Dunno what they're talking about (possibly saving our penalty), but thoguht you might want to hear what they're saying overhere.
