I live near Rollright stones, a stone circle from thousands of years ago. Apparently an army turned to stone. I was dreading going with regards to it being horrible but it was sunny (and very cold) all weekend with no rain!!!!! Title: Nights out Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 13:34:10 Reg what is your knowledge about these stones..

Years ago I started a book which was a photographic and written record of interesting megalithic sites in Britain and France.....what with a family and so on, its lapsed a bit, but I still do add some stuff... the Aberdeenshire sites are a complete blank though. For some reason they're always reckoned to have bad vibes. Title: Nights out Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 13:36:45 Witchcraft is practised there on a regular basis Reg.
If you go there, there is candle wax on the stones and burn marks in the grass. The legend is true too, each time you count the stones, you get a different number. Title: Nights out Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 13:44:28 There are a couple of outlying sites as well the King's Stone and The Whispering Knights...it was a witch that local legend has turned the knights to stone, and teh King's men as well.
As Long Compton thou canst not see King of England thioushall not be Rise up stick and stand still stone For King of England thou shall be none Thou and thy men men hoar stones shall be And myself an eldern tree. Of course the army is waiting for a suitable time to awaken when the country is in need, Title: Nights out Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 13:45:47 There is a king stone and 3 whispering knights in the field opposite the stone circle correct.
Title: Nights out Post by: McLovin on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 14:12:01 I've been to Ralph's stones... counted them 3 times, never the same.
Title: Nights out Post by: Luci on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 14:28:59 That is bizarre!!
Title: Nights out Post by: McLovin on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 14:30:23 Indeed. And i wasn't intoxicated.

Title: Nights out Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, 15:28:43 Me and my mates have flirted with the idea of getting wrecked up the stones but got too scared at the last minute.
Police check them at night too. |
