Oh dear ,we are 61-6 at lunch. Its all down to a good old fashioned England batting collapse. There is no Fred,he was watching Darren Gough dancing at the weekend :) .

Bit of an Ashes hangover.....

We're missing Freddie and Harmison - so some excuse ready to fall back on.

Good lower order batting though (Giles 30, Udal 14, Prior 16*)

Impossible to tell what the pitch is like ... might just be a dirt track .. the true test of how well we did is when we have a bowl .. plus Multan is different to Rawalpindi anyway .. so its just a training session in many ways! :king:

You are right[hopefully] :) ,but its only a warm up game so i'm not too concerned yet.And at least the players are getting used to Pakistan conditions.I wonder who the Patron is?He sounds a trifle sinister :) .

The real cricket excitement today is India v Sri Lanka .. where Dhoni the Indian wickie has scored 130 off 107 balls so far ..13 4s and 7 6s!!!

I spent a lot of yesterday watching SA v NZ .. good match .. cricket not involving England I find pleasant to watch

Any Ideas how this use of 14 players in the match works? I heard a bit about it and other than the fact that it's a good idea to give everyone a chance to acclimatise I was bewildered by the logisitics.

and he promptly gets out for 50!

Dhoni made 183 off 145 balls .. 15 4s and 10 6s .. amazing! Highest ever score by a wicketkeeper in a one day match .. beating Gilchrist's 173!

India beat Sri Lanka and went 3-0 up in the 7 match series! :-))(

Prior is putting Jones under pressure

No chance :-))( ,lord knows why but jones's place seems to be secure in spite of his missed stumpings, dropped catches and his ability to get out.Plus it is only a warm up,although  i wonder if jones is going to keep wicket ,maybe he's just playing as a batsman  .

 Why is it a 7 match series?I know the Indians are good at one dayers but thats a bit much.
256-9 at close of play,Tres still in on 124. :)

I noticed that as well,it stopped me in my tracks for a while.I would imagine the cloth he wore on his head would come in quite handy though :)

Mex just been on google[which is what i'm using :) ]and if you type in Inzamam-ul-haq in images my picture [on my computer anyway]is right at the top ,there is a similarity between the two big men ,but i'm still convinced my picture is Inzy, google wouldn't get it wrong would it?:) Shall we just agree that you think its Mushtaq and i think its Inzy? :)  8) There are both great players and both are large chaps so in my eyes they are role-models :) .

i bet you a million pounds its mushy, anyway jones is keeper so why play matt prior at number 10???? 50 on his touring debut and his stand with trescothick saved the day.

Title: Rawapindi warm up
Post by: mattboyslim on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, 09:29:55
I guess they're tryign to get everyone involved, give prior a look at the conditions and let jones practice trying to catch the ball, number 10 seems a bit daft, but the whole match is quite contrived anyway being 14 man squads.

Yes and doesn't he need the practice :-))( .
Udal has got a couple, but K.O.S has got a tummy upset so i don't know if he's out playing at the moment,so the spin twins may not be bowling together ...yet.

Title: Rawapindi warm up
Post by: mattboyslim on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, 09:39:05
Jonesy could have a mare against the veteran spin attack, if it really turns he's gonna need to improve rapidly, cos we can't afford missed stumpings, and lots of byes.

39-6   At the close of play
And we can't even blame the pitch for spinning.

Post by: mattboyslim on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, 12:28:17
Bloody Hell, I saw a bit of it yesterday is the pitch dodgy in any way, or are the batsman all a bit rubbish.  it's swinging around a bit from what I saw, but 39-6?...

Title: Rawapindi warm up
Post by: larwood on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, 12:41:03
They said its a seaming pitch {which would explain why Jimmy is doing alright }And there has been some messing around of the order, but aside from that i just don't think the batsmen are playing well,Tres has still to come in so he may save a draw for us.

Title: Rawapindi warm up

England are 112 all out,Tres topped scored again, with 38,and Colly made 34.
No wonder its 14 a side,we need all the players we can get.

True, but it isn't the most inspiring of performances.Warm up games are usually draws or wins not  losses :( .It suggests arrogance to me,that the top order have assumed its going to be easy, when no game is.

:)
We have won by 52 runs, bowled them out for 105.Must have been something wrong with the pitch.
Hopefully its the boot up the arse some of the batsmen need.Tres said that it was a case of working very hard to get runs, the batsmen need to realise that the conditions are very different from home and play accordingly.Good work from the bowlers though,Plunkett must be in with a shout of starting now.
