 Thing is with Sniff, he knew exactly what he was heading for.  he came out and said that after drifting around clubs he liked having a regular spot, he appreciated the fans backing.....but when it came to cash he opted for that.

 Goals are quite helpful though....in 2005 we've scored 13 on the road...Sniff scored 5 of of them.....of the other 8 I think its Parkin 4 Fallon 1 Jenkins1 Holmes 1 and Proctor 1.

I'd have him back, although it'll never happen.  Matty Heywood was up our pub the other night saying that Smith preferred to be on the subs bench/ressies at city than be here i.e. he must be enjoying his increase in disposable income.  Modern day footballers eh?  All about the money.

I don't think he's quite what we need but if he'll come back and score 10+ goals then I'm not going to complain.

Well he sort of betrayed STFC, he complained he never got enough games here but he never has any games in Brizzle, so he made the wrong move. I would have him back if he apologiesed to the fans.

Exactly PM. he went for money and we knew he was going to lose the form he showed here because he didn't have to play for a new contract!

He only seems to play well when his contract is coming to an end. He even said in one of his last interviews on stfc world that being out of contract at the end of the season "focussed his mind". I believe whoever it was who said that Smith would prefer to stay in City's reserves rather than play for us... just like he did for us, he does fuck all for one and a half years and then might have a patch of form when his contract is running out. Sitting on a two/three  (?) year contract at City, Smith isn't going to pull his weight. He'll just sit around till his contract expires.
So for that reason, would only have him back on a 3month rolling contract and I doubt he would eccept that.

The point is Dave, when he left us he was a freescoring midfielder who was obviously hoping to pick-up in a City shirt where he left off in Town colours. It's obviously gone pear-shaped.

I think most Town fans appreciate King only kept him in the side because Smith's performances meant he had no choice but to keep playing him. There was blatantly a subtext going on there.
