Does anyone follow this on Sky Sports??

(NFL Active is a most useful add on to Skys service I might add!)

NY Jets is my team!  I'm just not sure who I'd support if Swindon ever played them though, talk about divided loyalties.

Gary Imach was US Football coverage's version of James Richardson!  Not as smooth though.

I tried watching the super bowl but it was very dull.

Just 10 seconds of action stop for a minute so they can show the players waving, 10 seconds of play, advert, 10 seconds of play, advert....repeat. :|

When it first cam onto C4 I was into it (Chicago Bears, the Fridge, etc).

Managed to go to an Oakland Raiders v Seattle seahawks game in 99 (I think). Despite thier chearleaders saying otherwise their fans wern't crazy, at least not at the game.

Nothing beats a good atmosphere at a 'proper' football game.

American footie can be dull if you don't understand the sport.  Once you get a sound knowledge I find the breaks in play seem shorter and shorter.  The second and fourth quarters especially can be fast flowing and full of excitement.

Holding - defence number 87, 10 yard penalty - automatic first down!!!

I love it.  It's not on late though, they show a game at 6.00pm and the second one starts at 9.00pm. How early do you go to bed fatbury????

My team is the Cincinnati Bengals. (I just like the name and LOVE those tiger stripe helmets    ) I've followed them since the mid 80's when C4 started showing it and the afore mentioned Bears were ripping all and sundry to pieces (how times change).  The Bengals have been pretty much sucking ass since about 1990 so this season I'm getting rather excited as they are 5 and 1

They're playing the Steelers at home this Sunday and it's being shown in Sky (that's at 6.00pm fats) 8)

It is a massive game which I am looking forward to very much indeed.

Given I'm currently living about 40 miles from Cincinnati, they are currently my NFL team too. I'm trying to get tickets for a game later this season, but good seats are like rocking horse shit and/or cost a small fortune. They have had a surprisingly good start to the season, hence the high demand for tickets. I record every game on DVR and slowly watch during the week.

Quote
Who's watching the baseball at the moment?

I really thought, before moving here, that Baseball was as dull as ditchwater. Then I reluctantly went to a game. I now love it. I watched the last game between the Astros and Cardinals on HDTV on a huge plasma screen at a friends house, and it was awesome. That home run in the top of the ninth was a cracker. Next game in the series is tonight in St Louis.

But remember most games on the east coast kick off at 1300 EST = 1800 UK, the west coast games kick off 1300 PST = 2100 UK.

That bloody baseball game finished at midnight EST = 0500 UK on Monday.

Oooh, I like this thread.

They showed the Astros v Cardinals game on NASAN last night.  A superb three run homer put the Astros 4-2 up and with one foot in the World Series when, in the 9th (final) inning, Pujol hit the mother of home runs with two men on base to win the game 5-4.  Superb.  Astros now go to St Louis tomorrow, 3-2 up in the best of 7 series.

I would love to go to an NFL game but as has been said, tickets are as rare as the perverbial hens' teeth.  Broncos v Patriots - what a great game to go to. I am envious  (as would Patriots v Bills)

Following American sport these days is miles better than it used to be because of t'internet.  You can go on fans' forums such as www.go-bengals.com.  It's funny how similar it can be to this one with your usual mix of otimists, pessimists, odd balls, piss taking 'official' match day threads, x player is crap no he's not he's brilliant type stuff.  This thread about one of the forum members getting shit faced in Jacksonville is quite amusing: http://forum.go-bengals.com/index.php?showtopic=10305

Its a redneck tradition, not that I've seen much evidence in the flesh as yet. But I'm assured its a common event at most NFL games across the country. Problem is you need a mate with a big truck to carry the BBQ, they are fucking huge.

Imageshack is the best way. There are some instructions on here somewhere of how to do it, but its pretty simple.

For what its worth, the Houston Astro's sealed their place in the World Series last night following a 5-1 win over the St Louis Cardinals, taking the series 4-2. Game 1 against the Chicago White Sox, in Chicago, is Saturday.

Agree Dave, less nonesense with scrums and lineouts, more tries, and less emphasis on penalties and drop goals as the main source of points.  Also less posh people, and the grounds look like proper sporting theatres, union grounds are more hospitality boxes than seats from what I've seen at Britol, Bath and Northampton

I'm going to Florida next month and am going to see Miami Heat v Portland Trailblazers.  I'm not really into basketball but it I'm sure it will be a great experience. Denver are my outside bet for the SuperBowl.

Only if they get home field advantage in the playoffs, otherwise they will be one and done against the Colts again.

Two Carolina Panthers cheerleaders who allegedly were having sex with each other in a bathroom stall at a Tampa, Fla., nightclub were arrested and charged early Sunday following a run-in with patrons and police.

According to a police report obtained by the CBS TV affiliate in Tampa and the Charlotte Observer, Angela Ellen Keathley and Renee Thomas were arrested following an incident at Banana Joe's, in Tampa's Channelside district, at 2:10 a.m. ET.

The cheerleaders were kicked off the team Monday for violating a signed code of conduct, Panthers spokesman Charlie Dayton said. The two violated a rule that bans conduct that's embarrassing to the team or organization.

In the police report, witnesses claimed Thomas and Keathley were having sex with each other in a stall when other patrons grew angry that the two were taking so long in the bathroom.

Another woman waiting to use the bathroom got into an argument with the two, and Thomas hit that person in the face, according to details of the report posted on TampaBay10.com, the CBS TV affiliate's Web site.

Keathley, who was escorted from the nightclub, was so drunk she could barely stand, the report said. Police described Keathley as rude and belligerent with police.

When Thomas was arrested, she gave police the name of another Panthers cheerleader -- Kristen Lanier Owen, the Observer and TampaBay10.com reported. Thomas, who was charged with one count of battery, might face additional charges for lying to police, once they confirm her identity.

Keathley was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing or opposing an officer.

Other Panthers cheerleaders bailed Thomas and Keathley out of Hillsborough County jail later Sunday morning, TampaBay10.com reported.

The cheerleaders made the trip to Tampa on their own -- the squad performs on the sideline only at home games. Panthers officials at Sunday afternoon's game said they were aware of the report, but declined further comment when contacted by the Observer.

According to the Panthers' official team Web site on NFL.com, Keathley is a registered nurse and second-year member of the TopCats. Thomas is listed as a student at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and first-year member of the cheerleading squad. :beers:
