Title: The Goodies Post by: Bedford Red on Friday, October 14, 2005, 19:18:50 Anyone else like them, I know I'm appealing to the older members on here.

They should re-run the old shows, I'd like to see them again. Title: The Goodies Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, October 14, 2005, 19:25:05 I used to watch it.....not sure how it would stand up today.
I was also a fan a I'm Sorry I''ll Read That Again, on the wireless....which contained the Goodies, but also John Cleese. It kind of linked the Goodies to Python and even earlier stuff like Do NoT Adjust Your Set.....then through to the Goons. Title: The Goodies Post by: Dazzza on Friday, October 14, 2005, 19:27:06 Yes, but having seen a few clips in recent years it hasn't aged well at all.
Tim Brooke-Taylor was on TV the other night. Title: The Goodies Post by: Onion_Jimbo on Friday, October 14, 2005, 20:28:07 Jesus I thought Jade's family had made an osbournes style tv show then /o\
Title: The Goodies Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Friday, October 14, 2005, 20:55:18 I used to love it. Or at least I thought I loved it. If I watch it these days (on UK Gold or wherever) I think it is total shite.
By the same token, until about a week ago I would have said I was a Dick Emery fan, until I watched a whole 30 minute show on the above mentioned station and it was utterly, totally COCK from start to finish. To a much lesser degree, I would say the same about The Young Ones. That's comedy I suppose. Most of it becomes jaded and dated apart from the very best (about 1%) which is timeless i.e Porridge, Fawlty Towers, Dads' Army. Then again, in another 30 years time, I suppose they will be about as relevant then as Laurel and Hardy are today. I'm rambling now :| Title: The Goodies Post by: Batch on Friday, October 14, 2005, 21:02:39 I haven't seenit since it 's original airing but I guess OST is right and it would some how not be funny now. I guess some comedy dates and can only be thought of in the context it was born in
I know the BBC won't repeat it but I hadn't seen it was on uk gold, was that an IF OST or has it actually been on... Anyway the BBC stuff was sporned out of the live shows they are doing in Aus http://www.goodiesruleok.com/faq.php?topic=10 Title: The Goodies Post by: Nomoreheroes on Saturday, October 15, 2005, 02:38:53 If you want to download some of their stuff to watch then go to www.uknova.com. They have had several Goodies torrents over the last couple of months.
Used to love it as a kid, but am sure that I would wonder why if I saw it now - Much as when BBC America keeps showing The Young Ones. NMH |
