Title: Car CD players
Post by: sonicyouth on Friday, October 7, 2005, 17:53:36
I want one.

How much am I looking at for a decent one considering my speakers aren't brilliant and are they difficult to fit?

Buy a Corsa SXI....  CD player as a standard  :D   And you get to look like a chav as a free optional extra.

The CD player itself is about 80-odd quid for a decentish one - the Clio speakers in my mum's old car - same version as yours - were doable, but it depends what you want to listen to and how chavvy (I mean how good speakers) you'd like....?

I don't really want to buy new speakers as well, not too fussed about sound quality so long as it's listenable and the bass doesn't sound terrible.

Then you're sorte d- Halford's is you're port of call, should be under 100.  My dad managed to blag a Sony player for about 85 - and he only listens to Meatloaf and Deseridta (or summat - Irish Folk Song band).   :|

It must be easy as fuck as my dad is about as mechanical as me on coke....   But if you're really stuck I'm sure you've got a mate who can do it easily, or someone on here can do it......

piss simple mate. if you get one for over a certain amount they'll fit it for ya, if not, ask em, they'll supply ya with the bits u need to pull the old one out, and chances are you'll need a adapter plug if your cars french, again, halfrauds will supply ya.

the frogs are weird, instead of having an industry standard attachment (which would make sense) theres a few different types. which is very silly.

I've just realised they sell converters so that you can plug your mp3 player into a cassette player.  Sorted :advercool:  :\/

I got mine from Argos  8)

Kenwood, very easy and pretty decent for £99

That one came with free fitting- otherwise you're looking at about 40-50 quid fitting

Anyone who can't fit a CD player in their car should probably stick their tongue in the mains.

ask lilXdave, in my arsetra we attacked the connector with a hacksaw to get it to fit with my fancy Sony headunit. got a MD player in my mazda at the mo, swapping it out as soon as the sony player gets fixed!

Yeah, say fuck off mate, I'll show you how it's done.  Then when it's in a complete mess, let him do it and tell your mates it's your work.

If it's free you're hardly going to turn it down, Dave.  Anyone can do it though.

Would it not be easier to buy an mp3 player and then link it up?

Return of The Drifter helped me out many a time over the last few months

Did it for awhile with my iPod but the sound quality was worse than my tapes.

I'm still listening to those hip-hop compilations you made me 8)

That's a bit wank then.  Was going to buy one, might give it a whirl anyway.

Did them CDs come out alright?  The order was definately jumbled on Klashnekoff, and I haven't got Taskforse anymore because the internet couldn't tell the difference between them and Braintax.

It's alright if you only want it for driving back and forth to work like, but I missed listening to my mixtapes. I want a CD player so I can make some mix CD's and listen to albums and stuff easily.

Those CD's came out fine mate, Klashnekoff was a bit too gangster for me but I'm liking Task Force 8)

I thought you might think that.  The whole 'MURDER' thing is to do with sounclashing(two djs heading off against each other, rather than anything to do with violence), but I agree he does come at his subject very aggressively.  He's only little, bless 'im :)  I really like his power though, and I'd don't think his subject is really too different from Taskforce, who I'm getting more into now I've managed to get past Chester P's annoying voice.
