Games like this are exactly why Chelsea are anything but boring, most teams will go to Liverpool and it'll be 0-0 or 1-0 but if Chelsea play like they can they're capable of destroying even the best teams in the world with devestating play and that's I think they're a great team to watch.

Benitez got what he deserved after saying they weren't a great team.

Chelsea didnt deserve to win 4-1 , although they were the better side.

You could try taking Jose's cock out of your mouth for at least 10 minutes BWB

Only other team I have seen is Cheltenham and thats because a)  It doesn't break and bank and b) couldn't get out of work in time to get to Doncaster to watch the town!

i think Chelsea are over rated TBH. of course they are a good team but they are always going to be when they have millions to spend! thats why im not surprised and will give no recognition to their achievements whatsoever!

Man United have also spent 200 million on players....

13 goals in 3 games for Chelsea now. People might not like them but lets be honest if you saw any of those games boring they are clearly not.

Difference is that Man Utd spent 200 mil that they had actually generated themselves...

Title: Liverpool 1 Chelsea 4

yes ben but Man U have spent it over 10 years not 2!

Title: Liverpool 1 Chelsea 4
Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Thursday, October 20, 2005, 13:32:53
Not as long as that

Van Nistelerooy £19 million
Rooney £20 m + up to £7m
Rio Ferdinand £30m
Cristiano Ronaldo £12.2m
Alan Smith £7m
Saha £12.2m
Park Ji Sung £7m

That's about £120 million just on players in the current squad

Chelsea have spent money they've generated themselves, so they generated some of it from one investor....so what? How many other clubs have done that, loads and really what's the fucking difference, so there's no point in whining about it just because there's has a shitload of money, I couldn't really give a fuck.

Swindon are also totally reliant on one investor.

yes but the point is i dont recognise Chelsea winning the league as an achievement because they have spent so much. if Charlton won the league then fair enough but everyone expects Chelsea to win it and because they have the best squad by a mile its not really hard for them is it?

I'm going to give this up Ben, because by your own admission you blow things out of proportion to defend them - Peter Crouch for example.

You said you know he's not as good as you say, but stick up for him and go overboard to counter act what everyone else says - it's the same in this case as far as I'm concerned, and in the case of a certain Mr. King...

But some of the Key players in the chelsea team were amongst the cheapest, Terry (free), lampard, cech etc weren't the most expensive.  Some of the top end cost ones have been very disappointing, Drogba etc, it's still an achievement, look at madrid, they spend bucket loads and the team isn't the best.  The difference has been Mourinho, dunno if I like him or not in his apporach but he gets the team playing unbelievably.

So Ben's been playing devil's advocate with us all along :o    :D

Couldn't care less about Chelsea or the Premiership myself, and I'm glad that's the case.

There's no need to blow Peter Crouch out of proportion, he's huge as it is, he's also underrated.

I agree with mattboyslim, of course it's an achievement, money does not guarantee success, look at Bristol City.

In essence I think Chelsea are a very entertaining team who're great to watch, I'm not really bothered where they get there money from and I'd rather they won the premiership than any of their realistic competitors, (apart from Spurs).

It doesn't give me the satisfaction when they win like Swindon of course, Swindon are my team and the only one I really care about but I do like to watch them play.

I can understand why people hate them but the thing I find bizarre is people call them boring as it's just so far from the truth, they play some of the best football I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of football.

From last night:

Quote
Frank Lampard received the ball in midfield, dragged away from his marker and looked up.

He took one more touch and then hit a 40-yard ball inside the Betis left back for Shaun Wright-Phillips to run on to.

The blistering pace of Wright-Phillips took him beyond his marker as the ball rolled towards the byline near the corner flag.

He hit it first time, a cross so perfect Hernan Crespo did not have to break stride to thunder a header past Antonio Doblas.

Sweet

Save that one for the highlight reels. Put it up there with the sweet, sweet goals all the best teams score in their pomp.

Remember it alongside the Liverpool goal against Spurs in the Anfield golden days when David Johnson sprayed a ball wide to Steve Heighway, who crossed for Terry McDermott to head in.

Remember it alongside the one in a Merseyside derby when Kenny Dalglish turned his man and slid a ball through for Ian Rush to rifle it home.

And bracket it in the same group as Andy Cole’s strike in the Nou Camp against Barcelona in Manchester United’s gilded Treble season.

Sums it up and I like to watch that kind of football as well as my local team. Some of you might prefer to watch Brazil or Real Madrid to see that kind of thing but I don't have any interest in either of them and to be honest they're not half as entertaining anyway.

Agreed, the premiership is OK, I look out for teams I like, I especially enjoy defeats for Man Utd, and I love to see the underdog do well.  But Chelsea have been awesome this year, IMO not quite as slick as Arsenal a couple of years back, but still fast flowing football, built on the the foundations of a solid defence, they can still grind out the ugle 1-0s English style, but they turn it on when they can.  As a footballing  entity they are great, but ultimately if they continue to dominate the league will become increasingly dull as a spectacle, and we all know that comapred to league One it's cack.

I still maintain that the Arsenal product circa 2003/04 was more pleasing to the eye than the current Chelsea team.

Fair points, personally I prefer Chelsea's style to Arsenal's but it just depends what type of football you want to see.

I agree that it is better if there is more competition for the title but lets be honest the title has had very little competition for years anyway, at least last year the team who were expected to run away with it (Arsenal) didn't. People forget that about this time last year Arsenal were unbeaten, 5 points ahead and most people thought they'd be unstoppable. So it wasn't really that predictable then.

I would still much rather watch a Swindon game than any premiership or any other game at all also.

Just about redeemed yourself there. :D

I suppose I've always had a certain dislike of Chelsea, so the developments of the last couple of years have only served to make me dislike them even more.

I had a spell disliking them circa 93 and Hoddle leaving, then i focussed all my disdain on Man Utd, I hate everything about them, except the colour of their shirts, Fergie's such a self righteous toss piece.  Chelsea I'm not bothered about these days, Premiership wise I don't mind villa, my best mate supports them, and I used to live in brum, but I prefer Newcastle, primarily cos Alan Shearer's a legend, not bothered how they do though really.

I've always liked Newcastle - mainly because of the Keegan era.  He was ace at that time.
