Very committed but simply not a League One midfielder.

Discuss.

Not bad for a youngster learning his trade under tough circumstances. Can't do it all by himself though. Been carrying the midfield with Migz and Whalley ineffective. You're right when you say he is not League 1 - more likely to go up than down though.

Not talented in the way that some of our recent midfielders have been (Howard & Igoe) but ten times more committed.

Can use the ball and win it, which is fine by me.

As santini says, he's a youngster who has been thrown into the deep end in difficult times at Swindon.

puts in his best performance every week but looks poor in a poor team around him. I think he can improve though and does look like an okay player when he plays well.

Least we can afford to pay him!

I think Pook is a good player, he works hard and puts the effort in. He isnt the most technically gifted, but I'd rather have a work horse than a nancy boy (ala Fat Bastard Howard).

He is probably our best midfielder thus far this season, and I do think when he leaves at the end of the season it will be to someone better and in a higher division than us.

However, he is already known for being out on the town alot which doesnt do anyones career much good.

Usual suspects I expect.

We're bottom of the league, we have no manager, we've just turned in the worst perfomance of our careers. LETS GO OUT AND GET DRUNK & PULL ANY BIRD WHO'LL LISTEN TO THE 'IM A PRO FOOTBALLER' LINE

Nice one

Pook just isnt at the current time good enough to play for Swindon, he runs alot but doesnt really do much at least with a Brian Howard he could produce a bit of magic to score or create a goal

I'm not questioning what people are saying, but maybe the 'players out on the town' stories we hear are exaggerated a lot of the time?

He is a decent player under our current circumstances, but can't see him being any better than League 1 in the near future. But we can afford him, he works his backside off, and he loves STFC. What more can you ask for when you are bottom fo the league?

Easy, I know one of Brian Howard's best mates thourgh uni.  I'm well chuffed  8)

I'm quite a big fan of Pook actually.  To say he isn't the most technically gifted for me is off the mark - does anyone remember the two curling 25 yard strikers against Crawley in preseason?  He reminds me a lot of Ian Herring, which is probably a bad thing, with his commitment and willingness to run, and right now I'd happily have him in the team.  I certainly think he's capable to be a league player as long as he has the right attitude and develops his passing in particular.

at least the efforts there from Pook! others (with the exception of Fallon) just cannot be bothered to put in the effort

Pook should be compared with Hoolit IMO, who was alleged to be a hard working and tackling midfielder who broke up play and allowed others with greater skill to express themselves. As replacement, Pook is better in the air, works even harder, passing is equally poor as yet, but he has the capability of scoring a few, unlike Hoolit.
As others say, he has had poor support from Whalley particularly, and even Migz at times in the middle, and not one of the wing midfielders tried have contributed for the whole game, for various reasons.
So what do you all expect from a youngster? Like to see more evidence of "heavy drinking and dissolute life style" , perhaps some of the other lazy gits could follow his example and run for the whole game.

I think he's overrated. Saying that he is very young and has time. Still he won't amount to anything higher than third tier football.
