Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: BrightonRed on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 11:00:33 Currently my ambition lies with still being above city come 16:50, they've got a tough match away at Brentford..
It'd be nice if we didn't concede within the first two minutes today as well. Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: normy on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 12:17:43 So O'Hanlon id playing, but Jenks is doubtful, according to Adver. My guess (always wrong ) for team:
Heaton Collins Ifil O'Hanlon Smith Roberts Pook Migz Heath Fallon Thorpe Soon be off to watch the game :) Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: land_of_bo on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 14:24:06 Get in, Fallon!!

Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: kick_ass1987 on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 16:10:42 Yeah well the people on the radio have obviously decided king is gone, you could hear them keep nearly saying well that was kings last game..... i think they probably know King has been told, get something from this game or your gone.
Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: stfc11 on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 16:43:40 people are stood behind the arkells chanting 'we want kingy out' can hear them over the interview on the radio..i'm not happy with our form, but who would we get? Reeves?! Woan?!
Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: Tails on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 16:50:53 Bradford were so lucky today though. We went 1-0 up, sat back and Windass got a lucky goal. O'Hanlon was picking himself up, leaving Windass onside. We were all over Bradford then they get 2 goals against the run of play. Claridge still looks class. I'm so down tonight it's untrue, the 2 goals were an unfair blow. The better team lost.

We still let these things happen. As the ledge Iffy on RS said, "The harder you work, the more luck you get." Also Pook seemed uninterested and Ifil was nowhere near as good as he usually is at manmarking and Roberts made an awful decision to hand the 3rd goal and shouldn't of took the early freekick. Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 17:07:23 I think King will probably be sacked now anyway. Real shame. Fair play for what he's done and good luck to whoever takes over. They have a hell of a task on their hands, I hope they're up to it.
I'm going back to Cardiff in a bit anyway and moving house so won't be reading the forum for a while. Lets hope the attendances now rise to 8,000 a week as predicted. Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: Johno on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 17:09:42 he will be now...has to be really. no one will take the job with open arms but oh well.

Their first was a fluke, not played for. Their second was our basic error, leaving the winger completely unmarked to cross from a quick free kick. The third was an unexpected slide-rule backpass from Roberts to their forwards, then a good finish. Two mistakes and a fluke, they only had one other good chance. Fallon was immense all game. Whalley was slow and ineffective, let us down.Nicho played well. O'Hanlon was good considering his recent injury. Pook started OK but made lots of mistakes second half. Thorpe looked promising but just lacked that final touch. Ifil wasted possession most times. Smith was OK, but where was he for their second, or was it someone elses man, I don't understand today's system. I clapped them off, a shame we lost, but perhaps one week we might fail to make a crucial mistake. Got to keep optimistic. Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: Melksham Red on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 17:22:51 Quote from: "normy" Quite enjoyed the game, some good football by both sides and we were up for it. Smith and Nicholas kept coming into the middle which was a weakness in this formation and often left gaps for their wingers to exploit. Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: adje on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 18:39:21 Oh-that makes a little more sense then.
Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 18:40:38 All these years and I'm still yet to work out what exactly 3-5-2 is supposed to give us.
Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 18:46:28 You were calling for us to play it at one point last year.
Title: Swindon v Bradford matchday thread Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, September 24, 2005, 18:47:54 Probably because of the personnel we had, i.e. no wingers. Anyway I'd like to see proof of that because I don't recall it, not that I'm calling you a liar.
3-5-2 doesn't offer us anything really, 4-4-2 gives us width, balance and options - we lacked all of that today. Not to worry though. Just let our super-scout King get some more tired, slow and disinterested has-beens. That will solve all our problems - like Thorpe, Cureton, Whalley and Roberts. I think the system does matter, if only so players actually know what they're supposed to be doing. It can't be easy for the players to be constantly switching formation and tactics. The point I am making is that we cannot function with the heart of the team so off form - no matter which system is used.
