Heaton

Jenkins O'Hanlon Ifil Smith

Shakes McDermott Whalley Nicolau

Fallon Roberts

On the basis that we need a change, we need some width and we need some pace up front.

Obviously if O Hanlon makes it (i don think he will!) he will be in for Collins

I think we all know it will be a 3 - 5 - 2 fromation after a reasonable show at Bournmouth, as such you are both wrong. :|

I wonder who will be at the back in Gurn's absence?

Will CC-P come in, or will Jenks move to the centre with Lapham making a rare appearance - of course Sean O' could be fit meaning it will be a straight swap.

I reckon:

Code:
                       Heaton

        Collins         Ifil       O'Hanlon

Jenks                                             Smith

       Pook           Migz         Whalley

                  Roberts
                            Fallon

Tommo's lineup actually looks sort of ok.  I'd take Migz or Whalley out for Heath though, as they are both similar, and having a bad season.

That's assuming King does the logical thing and replaces like-for-like, something he never does, instead opting to fuck about with the formation and confuse the players further.

I'd expect a 4-4-2 tomorrow. I read yesterday that Jenks is struggling to be fit again and Seano didn't play in the reserve game in the week, so I'd be surprised if either were available.

On that basis, I'd expect King to go for a lineup along these lines.

Code:

           Heaton

Smith   Ifil   Collins   Nicholas

Shakes  Pook   Migs      Whalley

        Fallon Cureton

whereas I'd go for

Code:

             Heaton

Collins   Ifil   Comyn-Platt   Smith

Shakes    Pook   Miglioranzi   Nicolau

          Fallon Roberts

I'm hungover and can't be bothered to do the rest of the team, although it pretty much picks itself.  But striker-wise is a problem.  Cureton and Roberts both scored for the reserves, Thorpe supposedly did okay at Bournemouth(?) and Fallon must start.  I'd like to see Thorpedo given another chance alongside Fallon, with Cureton coming on early second half if he's not performing.

I would also put Roberts on the right, just because he has to be on the pitch but there's too much competition up front.  I'm wondering whether King will go back to a 4-3-3 with the players he has - particularly when we played it when we had the donkeys of Sabin and Invincibile up front!

Thorpe was equally shit at BM as any other game- that's to say he stands around and doesn't do alot

Our problem is we've a lot of players, who are at the moment a much of a muchness, so we can field a decent reserve side, but the first XI is no better.

Only Fallon on current form is indespensible.

I'd drop Migz.  We can't afford him dwelling on the ball as per the last few games and getting dipossessed.  It puts pressure on our crumbly defence.

I love Migz, but he is a bit rubbish at the moment.

I dont think he has been that rubbish at all....

Plus, he looks easily our fittest player and will put the running in which is what the midfield need to do.

Seen as Gurns is suspended and O'Hanlon is injured he should be captain!

Fraser McHugh ran round loads.  He wasn't that good though was he?

Migz needs to get up to speed.  He doesn't have as much time as he thinks he does.

but we all know Migz has the talent. I certianly wouldnt drop him in favour of Whalley!

Then he needs to show his talent, because its times like these our supposed better players need to pick the team up by their bootstraps and get them playing well.

Migz and Whalley are not having the impact on the game that we need. Both seem content to lay off short passes to the side when what we need is decisive forward passes or movement.

We cannot afford the luxury of both in the same side. In fact I'd replace them both with Heath and Wells.

I agreed with Sanini (as i usually do) until he mentioned Wells.  Not that i disagree, but i don't really know much about him.  Heath needs to play more IMO.

Post by: Leggett on Friday, September 23, 2005, 15:29:34
but where would you put heath? not on the left, leave nicolau on the left cos he actually possesesessesses (sp?) a left peg, and shakes has to start!

Title: Team V Bradford City
Post by: le god cuervo on Friday, September 23, 2005, 15:38:32
if king wants to save his bacon he should go all out to win the game with a 4-3-3 (thats 4-3-3, not 4-5-1!!!). makes sense with the amount of strikers & attacking midfielders we have.

-------------heaton---------
jenks--ohanlon--ifil--smith
heath------migz------pook
roberts---fallon---thorpe

bench: bulman, collins, whalley, shakes, nicolau

Post by: Spud on Friday, September 23, 2005, 15:38:39
Heath in the centre with Migz, Whalley hasnt done anything, Nicolau on the left, Shakes on the Right, Fallon and Roberts up front.

Title: Team V Bradford City
Post by: Leggett on Friday, September 23, 2005, 15:41:56
cuervo, i agree. go out to win the fucking, not draw. i'd rather go down fighting than playing shitty defensive football, when the team blatantly has no real decent defense!!!

If we start with 4-5-1 then im going to consider going back down the steps of the Nationwide stand and watching Soccer Saturday on the tv screens.

Code:

                                     Heaton

      Jenkins        O'Hanlon         Collins            Smith

      Shakes           Migs             Whalley         Nicolau

                          Thorpe              Fallon

I'm not entirely happy with the central pair of Migs and Whalley unless Migs takes up more of a defensive role like he's done rather well on occasions.

That said I’d just fucking go for it if I were King he can’t keep a clean sheet so he may as well go out there all guns blazing in a make or break game.  Bradford have a few defensive concerns including Rickets (out) so I don’t see much point in being lean trying to get forward.

Please for the love of god I hope he uses his two wide players.  They may not be consistently effective to date but both are coming in from having not played first team football and need to play games to settle.  On form both have looked to be potentially great players.

I’d stick with Thorpe up front again he’s another that would benefit from a bit of consistency and a run in the team rather than being swapped every other week, which for a striker is not the greatest of confidence builders.
