Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: DV on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 12:43:56 Again, Roberts looked very lively when he came on, some of his touches to bring the ball down from Fallon flicks on were class. He started running at people and but some good balls into the box.
It was just a shame the box was empty on most occasions Thorpe did alright, but took a crap penatly (which in honesty never was) and cost us a goal but tapping in the rebound. If he had left the orginally shot from (Whalley/Pook?!) it would have counted. He tried to over comlicate things. Roberts looks lively every time he comes on, when is he going to get a start? Again, your thoughts? Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: Johno on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 13:18:04 i reckon he deserves to start up front with fallon.
problem is, if its lazy roberts that turns up, he is the most useless player. he always turns it on as a sub, but when he starts he doesn't always put the same amount of effort in. I totally agree with what you're saying, but we wont know untill we try will we. He hasnt ALWAYS been a lazy starters... Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: adje on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 13:46:03 I've had my doubts about Robbo starting(is it me or havewe always had a "Robbo" playing for us) but desperate times call for desperate measures and I feel now we have to give him a chance from the off.
Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: Spud on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 17:25:08 Surely anything is better than Cureton or Thorpe starting!?.
Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: DV on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 17:28:29 Well Roberts has always looked better than them I think, plus he is our top scorer!!!
I think he adds so much than the other two Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: Spud on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 17:30:16 He always looks dangerous when he comes on, lets hope he can put the effort in if he starts against Bradford.
Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: DV on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 17:34:52 I hope so, can you imagine Christian Roberts running full speed at David Wheatheral....!!!
Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: sonicyouth on Sunday, September 18, 2005, 23:20:57 I'd give Thorpe another start against Bradford, if he's shit again then dump him in the reserves and let him rot.
Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, September 19, 2005, 08:22:27 Roberts has to start - simple as that in my opinion.
OK he's capable of changing the game as a sub, but surely if that's the reason for him being here we are setting ourselves up to be in trouble before he gets on the pitch. If we have to rely on him bailing us out of trouble for the last 15 minutes then we really are going to be struggling I'm afraid - why not have him make an impact form kick-off?! Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: janaage on Monday, September 19, 2005, 08:29:10 I'm not so sure, when he starts he looks tired and lazy, Robbo's fastly turning into a much loved super sub. Good from the bench, average when he starts.
Not sure what the alternatives are now though. We're running out of ideas. Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: McLovin on Monday, September 19, 2005, 09:32:01 Heath is a striker. Why not play him as one?
Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: fatbury on Monday, September 19, 2005, 09:47:48 Agreed Dave .. I want Heath to start with Fallon
Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: Rossi on Monday, September 19, 2005, 09:52:01 Thats because,
Christian Roberts is magic, He wears a burberry hat, He drives a Vauxhall Nova, And has a baseball bat! He left the scummers in Bristol, 'Cos they are utter shite, And came to Swindon Town, Because we're fukin' dynamite! Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: DV on Monday, September 19, 2005, 11:51:45 Robbo isnt much of a super sub is he?
He hasnt exactly saved us, because he always been brought on too late, but he has always caused problems The fact that he generally causes more problems in the 15 minutes he is on than our other strikers do all games shows he should start.... He is capable of changing things, why wait till we are losing to let him go at them? Title: Again, The Christian Roberts must start on Saturday thread.. Post by: kick_ass1987 on Monday, September 19, 2005, 13:04:11 Well if only the managment and players read these forums, they might get some ideas, and plus then they know they are giving the fans what they want.... makes sence everyway you look :?

Doesnt make sense, but it isnt very often ALL fans want the same thing However, In my opinion Rory Fallon and Christian Roberts are our best two strikers and I believe they would instanly gel with each other and their styles of play compliment each other perfectly. We have all seen what Roberts can do, when have Cureton and Thorpe show us anything to suggest they can do anything other than miss penalties. If we continue like this it wont be long before Roberts gets fed up and wants to move away for first team football. He is a good player at this level and could get into many of the sides. He would certainly walk right back int othe City line up! Infact fans are starting to think it was a mistake getting rid of him! We've tried Cureton with Fallon, we've tried Thorpe with Fallon....lets let Roberts have a go everyone else has! |
