Title: Swindon v Crewe MotM Thread
Post by: Nemo on Saturday, August 30, 2025, 14:25:26
Well, that went fairly well. I don't fancy none of the above today.

Kilkenny turned them inside out.

Kilkenny was brilliant today but so many other contenders too, Munroe, Oldaker, Drinan, Mabete, Wright etc etc.

I think we should have an"all of the above" option

Mabete for me.  Rock solid at the back and put in a few last ditch tackles.

Is Kilkenny OOC at the end of this season?

Went for Munroe because I liked his no prisoners approach. Some fantastic "take everything" tackles.

Excellent all round performance from the team.

It's hard to ever truly know because we might have a +1 option. Less likely with a player of his calibre but you never know.

59/59 passes completed - unbelievable player.

Kilkenny outstanding.

To be fair they all did well today, even Ripley made two or three good saves.

Kilkenny and Oldaker as a pair are glorious when we actually use them rather than whacking the ball over their heads.

Indeed, I was disappointed when we didn't extend McEachran's contract but Kilkenny looks a similar player, if not better so it would be good to get him under a long term contract.

What a great game. Lots of contenders for motm. I can see why Kilkenny's leading the vote but I went for Mabete...

Kilkenny, for controlling the entire 90 minutes. Everyone today was at least an 8 for me. Particularly liked also a superb 20 minutes from Butterworth. If a quality player like him is not first choice, and rightly so atm,we must be heading in an upward trajectory

Agree with that.

But went for Kilkenny.

But some of Oldaker's passing was sublime!

Kilkenny looks a lot fitter - a lot sharper over 5 yards

I was originally thinking January, but forgot we've still a little bit of window to negotiate.

He's started dropping the shoulder and gliding past people. As good of a midfield performance from a Swindon player I can remember in a long while.

Bloody hard choice today.

Kilkenny, obviously. Mabete, again. Oldaker, most improved. Munroe, Drinan, Glatzel. Jeez!

Mabete

Yes, and Tabor reamed him a new one pre-season playing for Wolves in a friendly.  Very impressive so far. A player with a bright future.

He signed a 2 year deal as well. Quick, good on the ball and unusually for someone of his age seems good positionally and can head and tackle.

Plenty of quality performances today! Went for Kilkenny but could have gone for anyone. Got to say how good Butterworth has looked this season so far, looked classy when he came on again.

Kilkenny was unplayable today. The way he kept breaking through the man marking & tackles then driving forward was beautiful to watch.
Think it may well have been his best performance so far.

Haven't voted because there was a number of quality players today. Mabete was very good, Glatzel worked hard and looks very good out wide, Drinan didn't stop running again, Kilkenny is absolutely class. Then Clarke won everything he went for when he came on, Palmer was very good when he came on, Butterworth was awesome running at Crewe when he came on. And the rest all contributed so I would say all of them if that was an option.

All were extremely good or better today.

Not one foot was put wrong - Kilkenny probably the best, get him a new contract asap.

Definitely a fantastic team performance. I think the only negative I saw was McGregor not receiving support when they had that 5 minute period of banging down that side. And as soon Wright & Clarke swapped sides those attacks stopped.

I am a fan of Glatzel and thought his work rate today and the goal he obviously needed was the icing on the cake but have to say that Kilkenny’s performance over the 96 minutes was great to watch. More performances like that will put him in the January window without a doubt. Probably need to tie him down if necessary.

Obviously, the nature of the poll means that only one player can be voted for but Oldaker only getting one vote really doesn't reflect his overall contribution which was excellent and he wasn't far behind Kilkenny...

Absolutely, I didnt expect Kilkenny to have such a landslide TBH as many other players weren't "that" far behind him. But he was absolutely brilliant all game so it would be churlish to not give it to him.

I think the same applies to Nichols. Tracked back, made a great tackle at 1-0 when they looked certain to score. He hustled, harried, showed for the ball, and kept us ticking very nicely. Yet *another* player who is better suited to this style of play.

That was suggested earlier in the thread and this is indeed one of those rare occasions (hopefully becoming less rare as the season progresses) where that would be a suitable option...

Similarly,Ripley who made a couple of great saves early on and was all round solid
