Who was the best Town player?

Drinan, Glatz, Kilkenny and Mabete were all good but I went for Ripley who made some very good saves at 1 - 0.

Mabete, looked assured throughout, before being subbed.  When I saw him form up in the centre of the back three, I had in my minds eye recalled how Tabor had ripped a new one out of the Wolves u21 defence including Mabete, in a video doing the rounds before Tabor signed for the Town. I wasn't ready for Mabete to defend in such a commanding manner, playing out from the back in such a expert and relaxed fashion.

Really pleasing to read how well Mabete played. Hopefully he can grow into it, he's obviously still very raw and learning his trade

I've considered voting Mabete, I thought he was the kind of CB we've been missing (not leadership wise obviously, just being a decent stopper) but in the end I wanted to go Drinan, thought he lead from the front and was always trying to make himslef available, a goal will always help of course. 

A good team performance in all and even those a little off it were light years ahead of anyone on Tuesday.

I think that conceding a pen and getting red carded at Eastleigh rightly or wrongly planted seeds of doubt for a lot us with Mabete...he needed that performance today and I'm delighted for him...

My son was watching at home, and mentioned that the commentators had said that Swindon haven’t conceded a goal when Mabete has been on the pitch. His comment was that they’ve jinxed it now, however we didn’t concede until he’d gone off 🤷🏼‍♂️

Surprised no mention for TWB. Thought he was excellent & would really benefit from playing alongside an experienced CB.

Difficult one. Mabete was very, very good! I think if he had still been on the pitch, Shrews woildnt have scored. But I think that Ripley made several saves that kept us in the game and for that reason, I think I have to go for him.

Mabete retained all his crunch and presence.  And for the first time played a level well above his age and experience.  Ripley's assurance, saves and speed off the line were perhaps even more critical.  However, my vote went to Mabete because his level on the day was so above par at this stage of his career

Not sure if it’s because I’ve just missed it but I think TWB has gone under the radar a bit in general.

A young CB playing some of his first professional minutes and seems to be adapting well. Aerially strong, strong in the challenge and a good diag pass in his locker. Some things to work on as you’d expect with his age but I think playing next to a Taffazoli type who will be in his ear all game will do him well.

Also impressed with the communication and attempts at organising between him and Munroe. Both doing well. Sometimes a lacking trait in young loanees. Or maybe it is the norm and we’re just been gaslit with such bad defenders in recent history.

Yes, agree, he did have a good game.

Tough one between Ripley, Mabete and Oldaker for me.

Went for Ripley because he made some game winning stops with every part of his body.

Definately a special mention for Mabete though, he does look a beast in the making, takes no prisoners and loves to collect opposition players legs (fairly) legally ala Jon Gittens.

Why did he go off? That boot in his head?

I went for Mabete because his play was a complete surprise, including being so dominant at the centre of a back three. Glad Ollie was able to sign him on a perm.

If he can gain a little extra compsoure in the tackle there is definately a good player in there. He goes in with everything in every header/tackle/challenge, not many players have done that consistantly for us. Sid Nelson had his moments but was a very average player.

I would suggest Shaun Taylor and Jon Gittens being the last 2 who achived that successfully for us.

Kilkenny for me. A human dynamo in midfield with a strong hand in both goals

No probs, you just about deserve a day off
