Title: Average home attendance 24/25
Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, May 3, 2025, 15:15:04
Yet again Town fans have showed that even watching utter shit for the first half of the season they will come out in numbers.

Todays attendance of 9,503 means that our home league average attendance is 7,229.

Thats a great effort after such a shitty start up until January.

It's an odd thing but, even in seasons where we've fuck all to play for, there's often a jump in attendance for the last home game.

In 18/19 we barely broke 7000 all season. Last game over 8.5k.

22/23 crowds jumped by best part of 2000 to 10.4k on the last day against Crawley of all sides.

Duck knows why.

The extra came to pay homage to our Lord & Saviour Clemente?

I always like to go to the first game & last game of the season, so maybe other people do the same.

From memory, this was mostly down to Notts County bringing about 3,000

2,248 from Notts in a crowd of 8,676.
The day Notts County were relegated out of the football league

In my case, I've not been much this season but at about 1:30 I asked the youngest on a whim if he fancied watching the football and he said yes.

So we did.

There may well be others who saw the nice weather, thought "last chance for a while" and came along.

The sun being out played a part I think, it seemed like everyone had a good drink yesterday, it made the game bearable yesterday to be fair.

No idea what sort of crowds we’ll be looking at the next season. Seen lots of people saying they are not renewing, I was the same last season but bottled it a couple of weeks before the start.

Love the club but not the owner.

Yes more bums on seats means more money in the owners pocket but it also could mean more budget for the players on the pitch for Ollie. (in an ideal world).

The bums on seats didnt equal good budgets for the previous managers so absolutely no reason to think that would change.

It’s a poor average attendance for a club of our stature. Symbolic of the current malaise at Town and out of sync with the general trend in football. To put it in perspective. Only the 8th highest in the division. Less than that achieved by non league Southend this season.

Southends average was 7,120 in the league, so lower albeit not by much. (some sites give the figure as 7,339 though) and I cant be fucked in checking TBH.

Southend are very much the outlier in the Bananarama league as the next highest was York with 6,143 then Oldham with 6,037 and then theres a huge gap to hartlepool and Yeovil both well under 4k average each.

Also with the exception of Carlisle every team with a bigger home average finished above us in the table.
