Standouts?

Standouts for me were Nichols, Kirkman and Kilkenny but not by much, nobody played great but nobody played badly, Bycroft did what was needed too even if a couple of saves looked a bit lucky. Glatzel looked eager and Smith did loads of donkey work.

Kirkman, Glatzel and Nichols all decent. Went for Freckles, did nothing wrong at the back and a decent finish for the goal.

Jon Smith is a cracking summariser. The best for me

Nicholls, Glatzel did well plus several others close.

Interesting that the FotMob app has Freckleton as MOTM, I’m assuming it’s based on an algorithm that says a goal & a clean sheet has him ahead of the rest.

Who scored gives it to Glatzel but have him, Nichols and Freckleton nearly identical scores.

I do find these things often overrated defenders scoring goals. Not that it's bad when they do but it's not what they're for!

Love Markus but Jonathan edges it for no. 1 with his appreciation of L2 knowledge and the different styles on offer at this level.

My phone app has Freckleton in the League Two team of the week.

TBF yes some of his passing was a bit off target but I thought hes been very solid since Holloway brought him back in the side.

He looks like the player we hoped he would be when he first signed but Kennedy (and some of our fans) contributed to his early downfall in form and confidence.

Kilkenny, Glatzel and Smith standouts for me.
Kilkenny gets my vote, didn't stop and played very well.

There certainly is a player in there but how long can we wait to see that come to fruition? last season he looked like he was ready to storm it season and he has had, quite frankly, a really crap season with only short glimpses of what we know he can produce.

Last season he scored 7 goals in 19 games, this season its just 5 goals in 41 games.

For someone who is essentially a striker and not a provider thats really not a good enough contribution.

I just don't think he suits how Holloway wants to play, I both think he'll do well elsewhere and that we should let him go elsewhere.

Also it didnt help that Kennedy didn't really rate him either and only used him as an impact sub mostly and his style didnt suit ANY of our players TBH.

He has started to create though. Won the pen and a delightful assist for the second on Saturday. I would definitely persist with him if he is happy to stay.

Me too. That cross to Freckleton was about as good as it gets.

Worth another year at a minimum with option of a second.

Also feels like recently we’ve had a few penalties won by Glatzel in clear goal scoring positions where actually for us & him personally it would have been better if he’d just be allowed to score.

Glatzel has had a difficult 2nd season much like some bands whose 2nd album isn't as good as the debut.

It's not been through lack of effort.
It's just not gone for him. Maybe anxiety or just trying too hard.

He had success playing from wide last season & certainly has the energy & running to feature regularly in a Holloway side.

I would hate it were he to flourish elsewhere next season.

I think he's worth keeping. Even if he doesn't fulfil the promise that we all had, he's a good squad player to have. If it's a choice between Glatzel, Tshimanga and Westley, I'd rather keep Glatzel.

I can honestly say, there's no one I'd be desperate to get rid of in the Summer. There's obviously a few who we really need to hold on to (Smith, Wright, Clarke, Kilkenny as well as the 'kids') and inevitably there will be some departures but my hope is that the majority of the squad can stay together with maybe 3-4 quality additions... Too much to hope for?? We shall see...

Glatzel is one of those players who has potential to be a decent player, and with good coaching may have a chance of fulfilling it. If he ends up with a Gav or another Kennedy type coach, he probably won’t.

I’d be happy if he stayed for another year or two, but wouldn’t be gutted if he decided to move on.

I doubt that he’s going to be first choice here, so he may decide to try his luck elsewhere.

Most are all saying they would keep him, what hif he doesnt want to stay and be a bit part player again next season?

I presume any conversation with him would be along the lines of ‘stay here and you’ll be regular starter’. If we can’t promise him that, he’d be daft to stay. If any talented 19 year old can’t get a regular start at a L2 club he’d have to move on.

Apart from the obvious Hall, Uwakwe, Johnson, Khan.  I do think there are a few areas that we could level up somewhat, replacing some of the fringe with better options that fit in with the way Holloway wants to play. Cain and McGurk, spring to mind as they are obviously not in the plans.

Yeah, there are a few obvious names you assume will be gone... Uwakwe etc, then as I say ideally 3-4 good quality additions (or at least as good as we can get in our current modest position)...broadly speaking though I think what we need more than anything this Summer going into next season is some stability and continuity...
